Painted Base Brake Calipers

I searched for awhile on both the370z.com & Google for pictures of painted brake calipers on the base model. I was wondering if anyone can post pictures of their wheels and brakes.

I know it's considered the "Ghetto Brembo's" or in our case, the Ghetto Akebonos..

Anyways, I did mine over the weekend. I picked up two cans. Red & Black.

I thought the red would look nice and make the wheels POP a little more.

If i decide that I don't like em, I will just remove. or paint a more neutral color.

I USED HIGH HEAT CALIPER PAINT. Just for anyone who says anything..

I don't think the red looks bad at all on your Z. It is a commonly accepted paint combination and works. More neutral color will be just a fine and slighly more....stealthy.

I think you need to link this thread over on the "CHEAP MOD" thread for the non-Sport/NISMO guys to see for a good weekend project.

I did mine in red too..........though you can't tell much anymore since they're pretty much covered in brake dust. Probably should have kept them cleaner :icon17:

This is when I first did them

Our wheels let us get in there and clean them though. A toothbrush and some 409 will probably clean it up properly haha!

Looks good!

Yeah I've just gotten lazy about washing my car. Haven't washed it in like 2 months :shakes head:

Also I have the XP8 brake pads which dust like hell compared to the stock ones. I still think they look better than the factory color.

I want to paint mine red as well!

Gotcha. I just saw "painted calipers" and posted a shot of my blue ones.

No worries, I saw your car on an old thread.

Got me thinking that I want to paint mine blue.

But on a silver car, I'd think they would stand out way too much

im not sure why you would want to draw attention to the base brakes, but to each his own..

the kia optima does it...

Well, I figured since the original color is basically brake dust, I would sand it down to the silverish color and paint em. Everyone knows they are the base brakes, just trying to bring some color to the black and brake dust

fuct 11-05-2012 01:34 PM

then rock on!

you do know you painted the back of the brake pad too right?

NickTurnon 11-05-2012 01:36 PM

Yep-I didn't feel like taping it.

The back of the brake pads were just a piece of sheet metal anyways
