Lowering springs

Hey guys I couldn't find any research on this.. But i was considering lowering springs, any suggestions as to whats a good brand worth my money?
Or are they all pretty much the same thing? I used to have tein on my previous car. Any thoughts on how those might hold up in the Z?

ddot196 10-02-2012 10:46 AM

Mannnn I don't know I've looked this up a dozen times and there are tons of threads on this already. I don't have any but a lot of people seem to like swift springs. There are a lot more other options as well out there.

Really????! I couldnt find anything :( what do you type in the search engine? Ive kept trying, and like you said, swift sounds like there good. But thats all ive found. It was a review someone did on the forum. They sound promising.

Swift and H&R is what i have heard about.

wheee! 10-02-2012 12:57 PM

more people have swapped out FROM something else to Swifts than any other... Swifts are the best followed up by going to coilovers next if you want more control....

fuct 10-02-2012 01:01 PM

no complaints from my tein springs here.....

wheee! 10-02-2012 01:04 PM

Teins are a little softer than the Swifts. Check out Chinook on line. He has a set of Teins for dirt cheap I think. He swapped out to Swifts earlier this year....

just got my Swifts today for the Nismo. Also have the BC coilovers with Swift springs on my Lexus ISF

Z370Z011 10-02-2012 02:52 PM

Well ive been doing some research on the swift springs and they seem promising. Everyone seems pretty satisfied with them, so ill prob lean on over to those :)

YoungZ 10-02-2012 02:58 PM

X2 For Swift they are very nice! not too much drop and very compliant you'll be pleasantly surprised by them.

Do you know what would be the best place to purchase them? I found a couple sites but not too sure if there reliable websites.

Z370Z011 10-02-2012 03:12 PM

I found kamispeed, 314$ and free shipping

wheee! 10-02-2012 03:15 PM

good choice

he actually said the complete opposite. especially since the tein springs have the highest spring rates.

"Just switched my Tein springs for the Swifts last weekend and I find them to be a lot better for driving and comfort!"

YoungZ 10-02-2012 03:31 PM

im in canada and mine were from a local tuner but kamispeed looks to be a good price

Z370Z011 10-02-2012 03:49 PM

I just wish swift had a 2 inch drop. Or at least 1.5 in the rear instead of just 1inch

speedfreek 10-02-2012 03:54 PM

Save up for some coilovers.

YoungZ 10-02-2012 03:54 PM

they don't lower too much thats the best part. they are aggressive without being too low search the forum for some pics

Let me clarify... I removed his Teins and installed the Swifts for him... the Teins were rubbing in corners and bumps because they were too soft. The Swifts fixed all his problems....

"Lmao, you obviously didnt even try." Is it sad that i actually did try? :( lol.

Thanks for the positive feedback! :) im real interested in swift springs. 90% sure ill buy them now. Still wish they would've been a bit lower though

TheGreatOne 10-02-2012 11:38 PM

I have Tein springs

I would have went with Swift but it was lower, Tein is the mildest drop out of Swift, H&R and Eibach

I plan to do more lapping next year so I'm going to upgrade to BC Racing or Tein Coilovers.

Swift will settle a little lower for sure

Go H&R if you want to be slammed...the are the lowest spring wise

fuct 10-03-2012 10:10 AM

on my nismo the tein springs dropped both front and back just a tad over 1-1/8".

just throwing that out there.

Z370Z011 10-03-2012 11:33 AM

I have 19inch rims right now. I just want that flush look you know?.. Maybe not perfectly flush, i just feel like theres a major gap right now.. Or, are my rims just too small? Someone told me these cars looked better with 20" ive never seen them on a Z, but they seem huge lol

Its low enough dude. I scrape all over the place. Any lower would be a disaster. Screw low anyway, its all about performance and Swift out performs all the others. Its a no brainer. Place the order.

Swifts on Koni Yellows just for refernece

What size offsets are your F14s?

Tapatalk & such etc

YoungZ 10-04-2012 10:54 AM

looks awesome alchemy, pretty similar to mine! i got nismo wheels now but thinking ordering Weds S55am (matte black) +24 front +12 rear offsets I'm assuming yours should be fairly close to that?

Alchemy 10-05-2012 07:27 AM

Hey guys, thanks for the props:tup: My wheel sizes are 19x9 +20 front and 19x11 +23 rear. The front fits perfect as far as offset goes. It wouldnt hurt to add a 5mm spacer of something in the rear for a slightly better fitment. +23 is the lowest they make on that 19x11 wheel.

so i made up my mind and I'm gonna go with swift springs :excited:
just a quick quick question though. is there different types? because i think i found some that are "spec-R" "sport match" and the "assist and helper springs" which do you have?? sorry I'm new to swift springs :(

You want Swift Spec R. I ordered from Kamispeed and highly suggest them. Ive had nothing but good experiences with them:tup: Here is a link.

by the way should i get an alignment done too? I've heard some people do it, just wondering from your experiences

CC QUIK 10-05-2012 11:53 PM

+ 1 for HR's. Perfect stance with my hankook evo-v12's ,275 up front and 295 in rear on 19s. Slight scrape once and a while but no rubbing.

You will need an alignment. Some people can get it back to the stock settings, some cant. I came close to stock but not quite. I believe Im at about 1.6front and 2.2 rear. A little extra camber never hurt anybody:tup:

Too much. Slammed on adjustable coilovers. Sure it looks great but that isnt very functional. In the end its up to you, bro. Are you looking for performance or looks?? IMO, it dont look good if it cant perform!

rlhotka 02-18-2014 09:04 AM

What about ARK GT-F springs? They might be a little lower then swifts with about the same spring rate.
