General brake pad question
 

these brakes on my sports package must be bad xss.
under normal driving i'm at 45,000 ouch i know anyway
they still feel brand new. is this normal or i'm just lucky.
how long should they last. i know it depends on driving conditions
but anyone else getting this out of their's

Man I'm right there with you...I'm only about 38xxx...but they still feel great; but you have to wonder when it's time to change!

At 36k and mine still feel great and were inspected by the dealer before I bought it with no signs of needing to be replaced, that was about 7k miles ago though

Brake with very little dust 'usually' lasts longer.[maybe harder material]

Low dusting brakes are often a ceramic which lasts much longer than a race pad which is typically at least half metallic and eats both pad and rotor quickly.

Also note that if you drive a manual (or drive an auto and use manual mode often) and downshift properly, your engine braking is supplementing your brakes, so you overall use less brake to actually come to a stop, or at least slow down. Also, if you don't stomp your brakes like an idiot, they'll also last longer.

Also consider our brakes are massive for the size of the car, and if you have the sport package, this is even more so, especially for daily driving. Bigger brakes means less force to slow down overall, and also less heat fade.

That said, you might see about 60K on your pads (or maybe you'll hear the wear bars in the next thousand miles).

Big brakes (less fade, more pad and rotor contact surface) + downshifting + good driving habits + (relatively) lightweight car = longer pad and rotor life.

At 40k miles i changed my pads. they had 30% more life on em but i was already there so i changed em to the stillen street pads. they are messy and not as predictable as the factory sport pads. :\

Best to probably stick with OEM pads when the time to replace comes?? I'm at only at 22,000 miles so I have a long ways to go yet.

Yeah I was at around 45k miles as well on my stock pads. Only swapped out to XP8's since I was going to track my Z. The OEM pads still had plenty of life left.

for the street the oem sport pads are great.

The Nismo pads are pretty incredible, very few 370Zs with Sports Pkg came out of the factory with them (mine did). They dust like f*cking hell, but they are very resistant to fade and bite tremendously, yet very smoothly. I can't say the same about other more aggressive pads out there offered on other cars. The braking system is definitely a strong point of the 370Z - that much is certain.
