Something new from KW: KW DDC ECU Coilover Kit

I'm not sure if you guys have heard about the new KW DDC ECU Coilover kits by KW, but it sure looks promising.

With the new Dynamic Damping Control, DDC, KW has designed a new coilover suspension, which uses the original 3-way button to adjust the damping. KW combines the individual height adjustability of the coilover suspension with the adaptive OEM damping control.

The driver can choose between 3 modes: "Comfort" for bad road conditions or just a relax ride, "Normal" for sporty daily use as the best compromise between performance and ride comfort or "Sport" for best handling and response.

Fichtenberg, May 9th, 2012 - Three modes driving pleasure and the opportunity to adjust the damper characteristics via iPhone, this is what the KW DDC ECU coilover kit makes possible. With the free KW DDC App, the dampers can individually be configured via an iPhone, iPad or an iPod touch. For the secured WiFi-connection to the suspension control unit, only an optional W-LAN module is required. The KW DCC ECU coilover kit allows a continuous lowering of up to 40 mm within the German TÜV-tested adjustment range.

Currently applications are limited to VW, but I heard there will be more applications available eventually...hopefully a 370z application?

What are your thoughts on this system? Yay or nay?

That's pretty trick. It reminds me of the EDFC offered on Tein kits. Kinda wish you could have a physical module like the EDFC though - I don't have an iPhone or anything.

I think they must offer something like that, in the youtube video you can see him pressing a button on his car and its toggling through the ride quality

It says in the video that you can control it via the phone app or also via the switch or button, whatever, that's inside the vehicle.

Super trick and DO WANT!!!

I'm surprised they're doing it as a built in system, and no an add on like with Tein. Now even those who already have K&W's will have to install NEW ones instead of just getting the controller.

Also, what if you don't feel like having an iPad or you don't use an iPhone... Hopefully they will come out with an Android or even Windows based apps too.

Come on K&W, you can do better! :ugh2:

In Audi and some VW models you can get electronic adjustible shocks from the factory as oem. It's called Audi drive select and it looks like this KW system ties into the existing oem harness to control them. My old 300z TT had oem adjustable dsmping shocks back in 1993. Audi has them, the ZL1, the ctsv and others too.

id re buy just to quiet the passenger.... the connivence of this over having to get out and physically change it is worth it.

I was thinking about getting rid of the Z for a 3rd GTI.... hmmm... thoughts....are evil.

Is this similar to my 300ZX tt Sport/comfort switch?

Would these rival my KWv3's?

kenchan 06-07-2012 09:44 AM

Thats essentially what they are, only that you have the ability to change the settings on the fly vs having to do it manually. But the settings will be the same.
