they never did them for the last Z, a far more popular car than the 370 will be, I wouldn't hold my breath for this car either unfortunately. Stoptech will, DBA is coming soon as well

Z1, any word if the Stoptech design will be similar to the Racing Brake setup? Two piece rotor/lighter weight?

In for some updates on the stoptech.

You know, with slotted rotors, why do they go so deep, and/or through the brake surface? A couple of MM would be more than enough for gas escape, if that's the main concern.

Glad to hear Stillen is working on these. Presumably that means they won't require a caliper change, or have ridiculous cross drilling.

Any word on the timeframe?

The concern over cracking stems from racers buying cheap rotors kits that manufacturer make by taking regular stock type rotors and drilling into them. Then, the racer turns around and buys cheaper brake pads, and the caliper has to push into the rotors harder to get the pads to brake the car - causing super high heat situations.

The key to having brakes that work is doing your research and matching the correct material brakes with the correct quality pads - and you'll have a good brake system that works together.

Buy Racing brake rotors with Hawk HP pads as they suggest, and you'll have good quality fun :P

I agree w/Equinox...

The Corvette Z06 comes from the factory with drilled rotors. The rotors will show signs of cracking the very first time you take it to the track.

But several high end Porche's come with drill rotors and I haven't seen those crack yet.

Brembo sells drilled rotors but doesn't recommend them for track use (because of cracking).

DBA sells drilled rotors, but lists their 4000 series as drilled only and has no restriction on the 5000 series.

I guess you get what you pay for.

Haha, "you get what you pay for. ie the ZO6 brakes crack on the first go."

I work with an engineer who worked at Wilwood. He has said repeatedly that they laughed at people who wanted drilled rotors, and only offered them because people kept demanding them.

Equinox 09-10-2009 07:28 PM

yeah because every brake on a motorcycle you have ever seen is a joke. lol.

I wish stillen would give some info on the slotted rotors they are supposedly making?

Stillen uses DBA rotors. They are coming, but not for a little while

Stoptech will have ones in the future, but right now, they can't even really supply the 1 piece ones to their dealers (long delays)

I posted about them last week ^

Bump . . .

4000 series comes in slotted only, or slotted and drilled. Same with 5000 series
