KW coilovers

I am curious if anyone has the variant 3's installed? I want to know how the ride is on normal/aggressive street. I don't track at all. I hope the ride is smooth and comfortable. I read some other reviews that the ride is actually better than stock.

I am looking to drop to help my aggressive offsets.

I Run L.A. 06-08-2009 11:32 PM

I believe RCZ is the only one that has them installed on a 370Z.. and he has stated its better than stock..

RCZ 06-09-2009 11:25 AM

Chances are you are going to be changing the bound and rebound settings a little if you want ultimate ride quality, but yes, I personally think they are comfortable enough to have on a car for daily driving. I dont think what you need are coilovers though...just get springs...

Knives 06-09-2009 03:53 PM

RCZ - Would you suggest changing the shocks when installing springs? Just wondering how long the 370's shocks will last.

RCZ 06-09-2009 06:03 PM

Hmm, not if you get decent springs that don't slam the car. Either way...if it happens it happens, worry about it then :)

Knives 06-09-2009 06:33 PM

Yea, if I do get springs, wouldn't be any lower than a 1" to 1.5" drop, prob Eibach.
I live in a decently hilly area, with plenty of dips and turns concerning pressure on the stock shocks, but I guess when the shocks go, they go and I'll replace them like you said.

jasonhoutx 06-09-2009 09:14 PM

got the kw's installed and I am very happy. It fixed the offset issue and improved the ride comfort. Handles like a dream. I am floored by the upgrade.

Think I lowered it too much? It doesn't rub the wheels at all, but the air dam is a issue.

Sweet congrats on the coilovers!!! I love mine too.

Knives 06-09-2009 11:07 PM

Looks pretty sick. Is that about a 2" drop?

Also, not quite sure on coilovers (assuming the same principal applies), but springs usually lower even more after they settle in. So, it might cause some problems on your wheels rubbing in the near future.

kgreen 06-09-2009 11:31 PM

see ur tire and wheel combo turned out to be successful!!!
congrats

Forrest 06-10-2009 02:11 AM

How are you going to get into the annoying gas stations with the dips from hell?

Unicorn_blood 06-10-2009 12:08 PM

that drop looks perfect, no gaps! any rubbing issues so far?

blackbird 06-12-2009 06:26 PM

Nismo ?

Am I the only one to have installed the NISMO shocks, springs, sway bars? I seem to notice all others doing other stuff. I like the NISMO stuff or am I just getting old?

RCZ 06-12-2009 06:55 PM

both?

There's nothing wrong with the Nismo stuff, but it isn't very aggressive in terms of spring rate etc.

Nismo

I'm happy with the NISMO. I had an Infiniti G35 Coupe with Aftermarket springs, shocks and sway bar. Quite aggressive. Harsh ride. Get a back ache after long drives. My 300ZXTT had suspension upgrades also but was great to drive. The 370Z is a daily driver, so I want good handling but want to be able to stand up after driving for a few hours. Hey, to each his own.

nogoodname 06-13-2009 12:56 PM

^^ have any before and after shots of the Z with nismo upgrades??

blackbird 06-14-2009 07:22 PM

Sorry no. I may have a picture of me smiling before the upgrade and then grinning from ear to ear afterwards however.

abakja1 04-03-2010 06:51 AM

what are your tuned setups right now on the dampner and rebound for those that have em?

djpathfinder 04-03-2010 08:50 AM

With the KW's, do you have the option to choose spring rates when ordering? Also, do you need to buy a camber kit (or is it included)? I've heard good things about KW. Any abnormal noises at all?

No coilovers includes camber arms. I suggest getting SPC camber/toe arms.
With the KW V3, you can adjust the damping... but only when it's off the car.

Really? Every time you want to dial in a change they have to come off?!?

please confirm this...

abakja1 04-04-2010 02:57 AM

From what Im reading,..you gotta turn a dial with a hex wrench at the bottom of the shock for rear and strut up in front..

I really think this is kinda hum bug and wish they'd encorporate a turn dial for easier tuning..Same goes for the top adjustment for the z....I think a top adjustment dial is available depending on model..

NewYorkJon34 04-16-2010 08:50 AM

Do I need to get the spc front & rear camber kit? I have the Kw V3's coming this week, but don't plan on lowering it too much, prob just .6" lower then stock.

RCZ 04-16-2010 09:46 AM

maybe maybe not...I would say, more than likely yes, but it all depends how much negative camber you are willing to put on.

That's false. I change my rears from time to time without them coming off. The fronts are a different story because of poor design you are not able to get to the lower part of them due to suspension components in the way. If they would have rotated the access point 180 degrees you could..or maybe it's 90 degree. I can't remember but if they pointed it towards the car then you'd be able to.

A spring rate can not be recommended from KW, to my knowledge, but if you're looking to do something like that then get them from ROBISPEC and he can do something like that I believe. I will be sending mine in to ROBISPEC when I get the funds.

Looks sick man, judging by your pics I'm surprised you don't scrape EVERYWHERE in Houston haha. I am also surprised you said there is no rubbing because that looks about the same height I had my front at one point and on bumps or irregularities on the highway, that caused the car to dip, the tires would rub that fuking fender liner bump. I'm personally trying to figure out a remedy for that.

abakja1 04-16-2010 08:50 PM

NOICE!!!

Now if only mine would come to me in the mail (still ranting,..) :(
