sway bar install questions

Im getting some Stillen sway bars and I have a couple questions. The first is, will I need an alignment (or anything else) after install or can I simply bolt them on? Second, which setting would someone recomend for auto-x and track days AS WELL AS being my Daily Driver?

No alignment is needed. Far as settings that is up to you. Start with the softest setting and test each to see how it feels to you.

how does settig them up work? does setting one stiffer than the other cause under/over steer?

Yes.

Full soft on the Stillen (and most all of the aftermarket bars) is still stiffer than stock.

Setting stiffer reduces body roll and weight transfer so the car will stay flatter in the corner. Reducing the weight transfer to the outside tire actually reduces grip somewhat since the outside tire is the tire with the appropriate camber profile. So generally speaking going stiffer at the front will create turn-in understeer (but possibly help keep the rear more planted) and stiffer at the rear will create oversteer. This is a gross generalization as there are other factors at play related to spring rates and damping.

Perfect, thats along the lines I was thinking so I just wanted to make sure. Im going to try them out on the Softest setting up front and then the second softest setting in the rear. I run tight auto-x and LOTS of mountain roads (the dragon is only 30mins from me)
