New GT-Spec Rear Brace!

I got my hands on a new GT-Spec rear brace a few days ago and I finally had time to install it last night.

Here is a pic of it installed, but I haven't had the time to mod my panels. I'm going to be doing that tomorrow, along with a full DIY... stay tuned!

HERE IS A LINK TO THE DIY!

Sorry, the link isn't finished yet... I should have everything done by tomorrow.

I should be able to unbolt the brace if I ever need to put anything back there.

from the looks of the picture, for people that are tall/big that recline all the way back, can the bar hit your face?

I had concerns as well, but no.. The seat in that picture is pushed back far for me to get in there and install it. In my driving position my head isn't close to it at all.

thanks looks good! Do you know if the rear strut can be installed/bought without the piece going to the seat belts?

TypeOne 02-08-2012 04:52 PM

I'm not sure if it sold without those pieces, but yes, you can install the strut brace without attaching the other bars.

Yes, I have been to both the drag strip and road course circuits. Not as many as I would have liked too, but since I now have an oil cooler, I'll be doing more track days this year than last.

Very nice can't wait to see it in person.

GaleForce 02-08-2012 09:03 PM

Looks robust! High quality too.

Waiz 02-08-2012 09:06 PM

Oh my!

Nice job OP

TypeOne 02-09-2012 08:40 AM

The rear end does feel stiffer... but that could be all in my head right now. I'll let my buddy take it for a spin and see if he can feel any difference. He has a 370z without the brace.

Boost_lee 02-09-2012 12:58 PM

lookin good bud :D

RyanWest 02-11-2012 05:33 PM

were did you purchase it at?

wstar 02-11-2012 07:01 PM

So the forward bars go to the seatbelt anchors up top? How do they attach there bolt-wise? Looks like a nice way to stiffen things up.

370Z JT 02-11-2012 08:33 PM

Wondering if you can cut holes in the panel covers for a cleaner look.

The ricer in me wants to see them in Titanium.

edconline 02-12-2012 01:29 AM

Interesting.. In for more reviews/pics. Is the idea that this could also be used as a harness bar?

It's way too far to the rear for safely mounting harnesses IMHO (and even if it weren't: harnesses on harness bars are pretty lethal in a rollover).

simota1 02-12-2012 07:35 AM

that **** looks badass

sixpax 02-12-2012 08:24 AM

sure does ... I would actually be tempted to just dynamat the space and leave all the plastic out, maybe just put the bottom carpet piece back in ...

TypeOne 02-16-2012 03:03 PM

Updated install DIY!

oleg 02-16-2012 07:45 PM

tonythetiger 02-16-2012 10:44 PM

does it function or is it for cosmetics??

This defiantly would function as long as you adjusted it right. If you look at inside rear of the car where you see the mold that connects the two towers thats mated to the floor also. That U shaped piece from the factory serves the same purpose. All the products does is enhances/ adds to that stucture.

My plans are to cut that same structure out completely and brace the two shock towers togehter from the top which will add to my already roll cage I have now. The route I'm going doesn't save weight but will give great structure with possible adding a fuel cell.
