Wheel snapped off with brakes
So question, wheel snapped off my Z and took rotor, caliper and lugs too. The wheel, which had all attached was stolen lol... Soooo what the heck holds the wheel to the strut? What components are needed to replace that wheel and brake setup.
Or better yet, anbody have a manual showing this :) cause I'm trying to make this **** work lol |

Do you have a picture of the damage? Might make it a little easier for us to see what parts you need. Not sure if this will help

OP, the wheel is bolted to the hub, and the hub is pressed into the knuckle. The knuckle is attached to the front lower control arm, and the upper control arm. Post up a pic of what is gone, and we can tell you what you replace. Although I can't imagine that those are the only things damaged... driving with a wheel falling off is pretty extreme. :icon14: |
In for pics!

subd for pics...
|
I have seen pics of billet's car...it looks rough lol, however, after knowing what happened I am surprised how well the Z held up

Woah.....in for Pix and such. What happened that you sustained so much damage?
|
Wow, I just searched your old threads OP and saw the pictures of the damage. Looks like you need just about everything replaced on that front axle. Knuckle, control arm, strut.... Whoever stole all that once it broke off must of been strong cuz all that would have been heavy as hell, assuming it was still all attached in one piece.

Why doesn't this thready have pics already!?!?

Hmmm. I remember seeing the thread now. So is there going to be a repair effort, or just let it go?
|
Oh hey... It's a repair effort. Bought it at insurance auction. I'm a dealer so after I took my winnings ;) I went and bought it back as a dealer. Let's just say its bad but not that bad. The frame is only damaged around the headlight. Course support bar isnt even damaged and the strut bar never moved an inch so motor is fine. The fender was grinding on guard rail after the wheel snapped.
It's about 2-3 grand in frame work but carbon fiber fenders and carbon hood and amuze kit will make it new. Add another 1000-1500 for used right side for the suspension work. Plus I was going to get new wheels regardless :) Insurances valued my car with all the carbon fiber work we did at 39000. Payoff was 20 grand. :). Bought car at insurance auction for 7-8 grand :). So I'm fine with the build. |

haha nice plug in :bowrofl: Thanks brother.. BTW i still have the bike wheels i want powdercoated :) Okay this was posted already so this is everything I need to buy? Control arm to control arm?? I dont see the SHOCK :) |
wait does the shock sit on top of spindle?
the spindle new is 200 bucks and the entire hub assembly is 150 new. Not going to be too too bad :) plus rotor and caliper. Ahh found the link http://www.courtesyparts.com/370z-pa...8802_8804.html |
The shock is bolted through a hole in the spindle and does sit kind of in a pocket. There is a small bracket that wraps around three sides of the shock that the spindle bolt attaches too.
|
the suspension parts will be the least of your worries. i would replace the front suspension crossmember as well since it is aluminum unless there are absolutely no signs of damage. all the front suspension in this car is cast aluminum, its very light weight and it is strong as far as typical stress and tension from normal use but its more brittle and can completely snap off like you have experienced.
just email the pic to Z1 or courtesy nissan and have them generate you the parts list you will need for the suspension. inspect that aluminum crossmember for cracks!! |
