BC ER height adjustment

Hi guys, I installed a set of BC ER coilovers last night. I understand how to change the height with the coilovers on the car for the rear springs. However, how do I change the height for the front coilovers with the coilovers still on board the car? The external reservoir seems to be in the way. Do I have to remove the unit completely? Or can I unbolt the three nuts up top, lower the suspension enough, leaving everything else bolted on, and rotate the section of the coilover with the brake-line brackets and adjust the height that way?

Also, my fronts seem to have lowered about 1.25". Is this safe enough to not need a camber kit, or is the only way to tell really just to get an alignment done?

Be careful! I blew a damper when adjusting the height. You have to remove the bracket from the external reservoir in order to adjust. I haven't put them back on the car to see the difference yet..

If it feels like it might be too tight stop turning the shock. Does anyone have a copy of the manual you can post? :P

I have the same coilovers:tup:
Adjusting the front is easy just jack up the car remove wheel then loosen the outermost allen key on the reservoir then loosen the the gold nut on the bottom of the strut (with the spanner wrench)then take the spanner wrench to tighten/loosen the strut at the top.Note don't unlock the two gold nuts on top turn them as a pair.

You DON'T need to remove anything just loosen one bolt and loosen one lock nut on the bottom and turn the strut that's it.

A strap wrench is a very big help in turning the strut. Mine had to go down an inch + as when I put them in they above stock ride height, that would have sucked by hand...

wait, so you guys are saying that i don't need to even unbolt the three nuts up top that hold the coilover to the car?

Baer, that top ring you're saying to use the spanner wrench on, that adjusts the preload. So you're saying NOT to unlock those preload rings, just grab onto them as a torque point to rotate the strut? This won't move or change the preload setting?

I get that the bottom needs to stay in place if you're doing this as this will raise/lower the coilover, but what about the three bolts up top? Does that top plate rotate independently of the rest of the coilover?

I assume I would also need to unbolt the brake line bracket as well as remove those 4 grommets, correct? And you're saying there's still enough space inside for the unit to rotate without getting stuck on anything?

You are right, don't touch the top 3 bolts, loosen the otter most allen bolt to the resiover, loosen the allen key to the brake line bracket, loosen bottom gold lock nut, then turn(upper gold lock nuts) it clock wise to raise it(use the small spanner wrench)turn it counter clock wise to lower it(use the larger spanner wrench)reason being if you do it this way you won't mess up your preload.

BC told me that not removing the bracket was why my shock popped and left an oil slick in my driveway. :P I don't get it honestly.

Leave the to and bottom bolts attached! There should be plenty of room for it to spin in there. Make sure to at least loosen the brake line bracket so it can turn as you turn the shock body.

Thanks guys, it worked perfectly, except my rear passenger one for some reason had a really stiff adjustment ring. Oh well. You guys have REP!
