oem caliper rotor upgrade?
has anyone upgraded the rotor on the non sport breaks? i just bought some new open rims and really want that big slotted break look underneath em. not too concerned with performance.
The sport package big brake upgrade kit from Z1 Motorsports includes upgraded rotors, brake lines and calipers at a price that's hard to beat.
Stoptech has some direct replacement slotted front & rear rotors. PM me if you're interested in some pricing.
Thanks |
I would recommend PowerSlot/Stoptech rotors.. they'll have that look you want and won't sacrifice performance. I gave $520 for the whole set last summer.
This is easy. Z1 upgrade. Tell them I sent you if so.
Thanks for the advice guys. I'm assuming I can't fit a larger rotor over the stock caliper (excuse my noobness). I just got some new rims, as you can see in my pic, and there's a ton of space. It shows my lame stock brakes, and they look puny. Would I need to purchase a full brake kit to fit a larger rotor on there?
Do the Z1 upgrade as suggested by the wise men before me.
Do it. |
what size is the non-sport rotor? i'm not seeing the size of their rotor either on their site.
370Z / G37 Base Model Performance Rotors
Or try tirerack or Stillen You can't just swap in larger rotors. The calipers are designed for a specific diameter. You would need to upgrade the brake pads, calipers, rotors etc if you want larger rotors. The Akebono from the sports package is the least expensive option. |
ok that's what i figured. guess the brake upgrade'll have to wait until after my F.I. upgrade. that turbo fund is never getting started lol.
If anything, you'll want to upgrade the brakes befor going FI. A used set of Akebonos pops up every now and then on here, so I would keep an eye out in the "parts for sale" section
oh the "forced induction" upgrade isn't going to happen for a year or so. i mean my fast intentions exhaust lol.
Oh. Nevermind, lol
I am thinking about replacing my 2010 nismo brake set-up with a big-brake system...
I would be willing to sell the nismo brake parts. My car has 10k on the clock (FYI) Let me know if you are interested. Having a buyer for the parts might just push me to get the project done :) |
You can get better results in the "Foe Sale" section. Are you planning on doing some serious track time? If not I wouldn't worry about a BBK.
Yes, track time is the plan this coming season...
The supercharged Z is awesome coming out of the curves onto the straights... but wow, do you build speed that needs to be scrubbed fast. The nismo brakes are alright, but I would like a more confidence inspiring setup. |
If you upgrade calipers do u also have to upgrade rotors sorry if it's a dumb question I figure it probably is
Yes... you will need to upgrade rotors, calipers, I think lines, and cut the dust cover from the rear brakes. This forum is turning into my 350. Search people goodness. The thread DIRECTLY below this one is about upgrading base brakes to sport.
