Weight reduction! Lug nuts are over rated.

OP: This look good. Did you do new pads as well?

SPOHN 11-09-2011 05:52 PM

Nice. I can't wait to put my J-Hooked rotor on. Got to wear out my slotted ones first.

Did you replace the rear rotors as well?

pokeyl 11-09-2011 08:34 PM

Stock pads
Steel lugs, as much for anti theft as anything.
Stock rear roters

Good news is the car still stops.

What's the weight diff over stock.

Any noticeable diff in acceleration or braking?

weight 8 -10 pounds lighter per rotor

I would love to tell you the car feels better but I can't "feel" the difference. Sorry

I am tring to drop 80-100 pound off the front is why I went to the rotors.

NYBladeZ 11-14-2011 03:17 PM

that's a total of 16lbs rotational mass and you don't feel a thing? Damn for ~$500 each I wanna feel something. Looking ahead I know you get to keep using the rotor hats, how much are the replacement disks?

I am interested in a 2 piece rotor setup myself. However, I would like the rears as well. And to my understanding, you have to grind down some of the e-brake edges in order for Race Brake rear rotors to fit without rubbing issues. Would like to find a rear set that you don't have to do any mods for it to work.

OP, do you plan on buying the rears from Race Brake in the future?

:iagree: Ditto.

Did the upgraded rotor help in reducing the wobble steering compare with the oem rotor?

Yes, car pulls down very quick. I think quicker than the stock rotors. I had a chance to test them last night.

Last night after work I had a chance to push the rotors and ther is a difference. The car stopped quicker and with morre control. I had to get the pads bedded in before I could tell the difference. It seems to be less noise comming from the front of the car as well. Less Gyro mass??? I don't understand that, but the rotors are outstanding. There still not bedded in all the way. The rotors have none of the noise that most 2 peice designes have. I am happy I spent the extra money for them. Later

I too just upgraded my brakes. Congrats! The night following the install I definitely didnt go through a straight 2 mile tunnel while there was no traffic and test them from ~150-35. Though im certain that in the aforementioned theoretical situation the car stood me practically on my toes the whole way and there was zero...zero steering wobble before or after. I do still need to properly bed them in tho which should have been done before I theretically did that. Endless recommends 5-8, 85-25 decels in a row for their pads for proper bed in (should be a good program for any semi-track pads) . They should smell bad and possibly smoke when you do this, be aware, just means its working.
Most of that lost rotational mass is probably from the center of the rotor, a place of arguably less benefit.

Cheers
