On the second day in the afternoon sessions the instructor asked me a couple of times how are your breaks feeling (I was hitting them really hard the entire time) and I had absolutely no problems - just a little dust at the end of 2 days. Granted it was 85 degrees both days so it is not August yet so I will find out later in the summer just how good the breaks are under extreme heat conditions. Just my 2 cents worth.

Good to hear your brakes braked, but didn't break :tiphat:

Digged up wikipedia japan and found the following

Quote:

Basically it means they started their business in 1929, mainly supplier for Toyota and GM.

Quote:

If I read this properly, it means they have stopped supplying for GM in 2005, and Akebono brakes are in alliance with Bosch.

Akebono supply brakes for the Mclaren F1 team. Doesn't mean that the Z brakes will be the best, but they obviously know a thing or two about brakes.

Car and Driver magazine (I think that's the one) compared both the stock Brembo BBK on a stock 350Z and the Akebono BBK retrofitted on the same 350Z. The front brakes got up to 600F on the Brembo setup after a few laps on the track while the Akebono's only reached around 300F on the same conditions.

The akebonos definitely have more mass to them than the brembo ones.
