stiff suspension is pretty much like sway bars. sway bars are just cheap ways to modify your car. a nice coilover setup is almost alwats better

Thx as always cossie. I think I will bypass sways and pick up a set of KWs or some other top JDM brand...

No. I think Keiichi Tsuchiya was driving the Nismo Z34. Someone else drove the Amuse Z34. That gave the upper hand to the Nismo as Tsuchiya is by far the best driver of the BM crew.

id rather see both cars driven by the same person to have a better idea of the actual gap

The Amuse Z was faster than the tuned NSX-R. No way a Nismo Z will be faster than that around Tskuba. I was shocked.

Like you, however, I would like to see a Tuned Z34, Base/Sport Package, and Nismo Z34 same track, same day, same driver. That will probally never happen now as BM canceled.

The PowerHouse Amuse Z34 runs stock sways (only have coilovers so as far as I can tell). They ran a MUCH faster time at Tskuba than the Nismo Z with stiffer sways. The Amuse Z does have 15 more ponies than the Nismo, but that does not seem to be enough to justify a 2 second advantage on that track.

Is it better to go sway less for the track??

tires should be different.

Sorry I was typing on my phone. A stiff sway bar is a way to allow cars with soft suspension to have less roll. If your springs are already stiff, sway bars are only going to help fine tune your setup. The benefits you get out of it are going to be significantly smaller. Remember your best mod for lap times is still tires first, then suspension.

just my 2 cents...

Swaybars - yes less body roll
Better controllability in a slide, weight's not shifting
Better predictability / Better road feedback
Worse handling for uneven roads (ie California streets)
(just like too stiff springs)
Too stiff in front can give you understeer - tweek for balance
Thick swaybars are squeaky (at least on the 2 cars I've mod'd)
Love em for their controllability when you pitch it sideways
Hate em because they can screw up your suspension geometry

Had 1-1/4 front and 7/8 rear on my 69 Vette. Biggest I could find at the time and loved them. For now, I'll be keeping the Z stock, at least for the first couple years of it's life.
