Front Strut Brace material??

What is it made of? Steel? It seems very heave.

come to think of it, aluminum might bend under hard driving conditions.

It wouldn't bend, more likely to crack if that weak.

jaedub 05-03-2011 02:50 PM

Im thinking steel as well. Its too heavy to be a aluminum.

pokeyl 05-03-2011 08:56 PM

cool I'll start on a carbon fiber one

woah... in for picts!

CF has minimal thermal expansion so this would actually be more effective in the engine bay than steel... and much much lighter weight.

pokeyl 05-03-2011 09:21 PM

It may not be a looker, but it will be strong. look at the material from dragonplate.com

kenchan 05-03-2011 09:24 PM

really? exotic cars use CF braces for their engine bays. looks :yum:

Put a magnet on it, if it sticks, steel. If not, alum.

Yea, I really don't get it. If you can afford to spend 3 grand on a strut brace, you should have bought something more intense/exotic than a 370z in the first place.

JMHO

Mike, have you had to remove the Nismo emblem on the Strut bar before powder coating it, if so, what's the best way to do it? Thanks in advance! :tiphat:

kenchan 05-05-2011 10:57 AM
