Forged Performance - poor vendor experience

I'm in the market for a set of the SPC rear camber arms/tie bolts for my car and after reading through the Sponsor Classified section, I found a posting from Forged Performance saying they were having a "blow out" on these and had many in stock. The thread says to call to get this special blow out price.

http://www.the370z.com/suspension-br...-out-sale.html

I called to find that the person who posted the thread no longer worked there, but Travis who answered the phone tried to help out. Travis eventually quoted me $200 for the arms only, even though their price on their online web store was $200 for the arms and toe bolts. Even if this was an honest mistake by Travis, the same price as the online store is hardly a blow out, call-in price.

Eventually Travis said that the best he could do for me was $220 for the arms and bolts. I asked him why I would take that deal if I could simply purchase the same thing on his webstore for $20 less. I added that had I simply done that rather than calling in, he would be bound to give me that price and he couldn't simply call me and demand extra money.

Travis tried several excuses on me at this point, including that many of the things on the website are not updated. I'm not exactly sure where he was going with that, or if he understands that it is the shop owner's responsibility to update the site and that any transactions are binding at whatever price is listed.

I told Travis that I would rather not do business with a shop that undertakes shady business practices. At this point Travis condescendingly thanked me and said he was taking down the page on their website that had everything for $200.

Cliff's Notes: do not do business with Forged Performance

So the $469 shipped for front and rear kits is baloney? I was thinking it was too good as well.

Another one bites the dust... I too have had similar experiences. I bought coilovers at a special price when I showed up to pick them up they would not give them to me unless they installed them and that was the unspoken stipulation of my discount which of course was not much of a discount. I soon after decided not to buy parts from them.

/\ I hope not, at least not as long as the convo remains civil. I think the vendor should have a chance to respond to the issue raised. There's always two sides to every story, (not saying the OP is wrong) and I'd like to hear it.

Think of this as an opportunity for the vendor to improve their customer relations.

At the very least, it def should be a big heads up for Forged to stay on top of their website and keep the pricing/parts for sale listing up to date, esp since I'd reckon the majority of folks use the internet when ordering stuff.

Oh, and IBTL too! :)

I think that after the Vendor came down in price and acknowledged an error was reasonable But for Op to still complain about a $20 difference? is unreasonable, and to make a thread to slam a Vendor for it? Is ridiculous, And this thread deserves to be locked!! Really wft!

:iagree:

That is really lame if you ask me. And to start a thread on it.....really. I've been doing business with Forged for years with nothing but great experiences. I guarantee there's another side to this story also. But even then it is small beans. My car is having a LSD installed and will be tuned there Monday, guess I better call and canel because of your lame experience that's proabaly half true.

This does bring up a point: when vendors post a sale thread in their classified sections, they should have it closed when the sale ends to prevent this type of ordeal from happening again in the future.
