SPL front adjustable control arm FYI

I just got this reply from sales @ SPL about their front control arms for the 370Z.

============================
COMMENT=I was very interested if you would be offering adjustable
> FRONT control arms for the 09+ Nissan 370Z (Z34).

Hi Scott,

It is in development right now but we have no ETA on availability...
============================

Well, I just looked at my front tires after two AX events and only 8500 street miles and the front outside tread corners are toast. I'd like to bump up the front camber to 2.0 degrees but if I don't like the SPC arms (our only choice for now) it looks like I'm out of luck.

azn370z 04-01-2011 11:54 AM

I think that's been their response since the beginning. I wouldn't hold your breath.

SPOHN 04-01-2011 02:13 PM

I give up on them. It seemS like it was 4 years before they released there's for the 350. Not like there's that much change from the 350 to the 370. They should already a great idea of what changes have to be made. It's sad especially being they make a great product.

These guys have some coming very soon:

Talked to SPL again yesterday. Again the same spill as always. "Few more months". I replied that's the third time in 8 months I've heard that. He was speechless.

ProPartsUSA 06-27-2013 01:11 PM

Yea I've been in contact with them too. It's been a few more months the past few years.

martin82 06-27-2013 01:42 PM

From my info the arms are approved for production but it will take 3 months due to a backlog of other arms, I assume probably GTR arms being made? not sure...

Why worry about SPL front arms when SPC seem to work great? Am I missing something?

Fixed that for you.

In all seriousness, without modification, the SPC parts are sketchy @ keeping their setting on the track, and they're steel rather than aluminum, which some people care about.

martin82 06-27-2013 03:43 PM

My rear SPC camber arm broke while at the track, it snapped right where the threads start on the middle section, the bushings were destroyed as well. The front spc camber arm bushings are dead also...

Yup. Used the SPC front control arms for 3 years. Replaced the bushings twice and the upper ball joints twice as a result. They are cheap but you have to take into consideration the annual costs of replacing all the parts. FYI replacing the bushings on them is a pain and will require a good machine shop.

SPOHN 06-27-2013 03:59 PM

Wish SPC would just change there bushing to a solid setup. Or make it a option. But Baer383 has the best DIY option for the SPC arms.

synolimit 06-27-2013 04:02 PM

So SPC sucks? Go with SPL?

The SPC arms are probably acceptable for street use.

1cleanZ 06-27-2013 04:09 PM

Wow, glad I asked. I actually ran SPC front arms on my G37 for 3 years, Auto-X and track and had no issues with them. Are they made any different?

I was very curious about this when researching that not many people run front camber arms, even being slammed.

1cleanZ 06-27-2013 04:12 PM

Is this what people run for front arms then?

Just a few of us, they are kind of pricey because they are race grade and made in small quantities. SPL might be a little cheaper and their design looks pretty solid but I wouldn't expect them to market before September.

1cleanZ 06-27-2013 04:19 PM

Well I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger on SPC front arms last week ....

About to order V3's and full front and rear Camber kits.

ProPartsUSA 06-27-2013 04:19 PM

SPC don't suck but they are difficult to align, a good bump will knock the alignment off and the rubber bushings deteriorate pretty quick under heavy use..........OK they suck lol. I wouldn't approve them for track use but for z's with crazy offset wheels needing that camber they aren't bad. Its a shame that SPL is taking forever to release their uppers. The Doran arms work well since they also use a shim design that won't knock it off alignment but you don't have as much adjustment for front caster.

Its crazy reading and reading and reading, realizing that guys on here have been talking with SPL since 2009 about their final product, and its almost half way through 2013????? wtf???

ProPartsUSA 06-27-2013 06:23 PM

^^^
Yea I was joking with my friend the other day that has a 370z and he was complaining about his SPC upper arms and how he has to align them often. I told him that by the time SPL releases their upper arms, Nissan will have released the 450z.

SPOHN 06-27-2013 06:34 PM

Can you get solid bushing for the SPC arms?

Not from them, you would have to make or adapt something to fit.

Dwnshift 06-27-2013 11:13 PM

We are on the same design that we started with last year....they work.
Our environment is probably THE harshest place ...one could test any suspension product. Zero issues.
Strong , light weight, and durable.

martin82 06-27-2013 11:54 PM

Can I have a sponsorship from doran? Lol

What about the caster adjustment?

I think me and you might be the only ones on here that run the Doran arms. Like you said they're pricey but definitely worth the money.

Dwnshift 06-28-2013 09:42 PM

We have some pieces that add additional caster...adds about another .5 degree.

martin82 06-29-2013 06:26 PM

What kind of alignment numbers are u guys running?
I'm about -3.4 front and -3.2 rear dropped a lot
