Most popular spacer combo?
Hey guys im planning on getting swift springs with spacers but i dont know what i should do for the spacers. I was wondering what the most popular spacer combo is. I dont want my wheels to stick out past the bumper. I was thinking 20 rear and 15 front. Thanks

Yep, 15 front 20 rear would be the most popular.

if you're lowering it why not get 20/20?

The rear, however, is camber adjustable. |

I picked up all 20mm spacers. This is the thread I bought them from. There are pictures of base and sport wheels with a mild drop similar to swifts so you can get an idea of what it would look like. I don’t have pics because I am waiting on my swifts still.

Aren't the Ichiba v1's the spacers that people have had problems with in relation to steering wheel shake, etc?
I think H&R are the better spacers to go with. |
Depends if you're going for looks or performance. If you're just worried about looks, a larger spacer in the rear will look better. The problem is that you're increasing the track in the rear more than the front, which will induce understeer by increasing rear grip more than front grip. For that reason, I went with 15/15. Were I to do it again, I might go 20/20, but I'll make the final call once I get some SPL rear camber arms and get the rears dialed into a reasonable amount of camber. I just lowered the car on KW Variant 1's and I'm at something like -3.4 degrees in the rear (and about -2 in the front).

I seriously doubt you're going to be able to tell the difference in understeer because of 10mm of combined track width. Call me crazy.

What type of spacers do you guys recommend i go with? I think H&R are the ones most people are running.
|
yep, H&R and Eibach are popular choices. personally i use Eibachs and Kics. i dont think Kics has offering for stud-replacement type though. only the bolt-on type. there's a DIY in the DIY section how to do the stud replacement types. :)
|
you can make it easy on yourself and just get some 20mm front and rear bolt on type. No need to remove studs, etc. You can easily do it yourself in no time. (will work with the front wheels too)
|
I used bolt-on 15mm H&R spacers in the rear and stud replacement ones in the front. Getting the old studs out is easy, getting the new ones in isn't as easy. I used an electric impact gun I borrowed from a friend and that did the trick.

ok guys this is a little off topic but im starting to think about getting coilovers now. Since im probably gonna need new shocks, struts, or camber kits with the springs i might as well pay a little more and get the KW V1. Just wondering if coilovers need camber kits or if they can be set to factory camber without it. Thanks
|
I just installed a set of KW V1's on my car and it is lowered about an inch. To answer your question: no you will not be able to get back to the factory specs without a camber kit.
The front camber is totally non-adjustable and I ended up with right around 2 degrees negative, which is somewhat aggressive but fine as far as I'm concerned. The rear is a bigger problem. The least camber they were able to get was about -3.3 degrees. I'll be adding some SPC camber arms in the rear and dialing it back to a number like the front. |
I'm on H&R springs and spacers. Running 15mm F and 20mm R.
Check my album. You'll see the setup on Stock rays and Nismo. |
Probably mentioned elsewhere but is there a common setup with base wheels? I assume the offsets are different.

Where can i buy h&r spacers from?
If i were to get h&r 20mm f 25mm r , I would still need to replace the studs for f and r? none available bolt ons? |

Here is my Z dropped on Swifts with 20mm spacers all around: I think the stance is perfect along with my increased negative camber.
