Nismo S Tune suspension (shock & damper) - real drop?

I surfed, searched and read the forum but I didn't get the definitive answer I wanted.

Question is: What is the real drop from a Nismo S Tune suspension?

Normally, it should drop the car about 10 mm (0.4" I guess). But I read different posts in which ppl said it raised their ride about 0.1".

So, has anyone installed the kit in a sports 370Z and has measured the drop?
Does ist drop about 10mm? Or is it staying the same height? Raising???

I'm talking about this Kit: Nissan 370Z Nismo Shock and Spring Kit

Would be nice if anyone could share his experience.. ;)

I measured mine again just to see if they've settled any. No drop at all from stock sport and they've been installed for three months.

You'll want to get something else if you're looking for a drop.

@WhiskeyHotel: Thanks for your reply. I read your post in the other thread, so you're one of the guys telling Nismo ride is higher. ;)

How come there's no drop at all? Info from Nismo itself state a drop of 0.4", and nothing else but 0.4".
Can it be a "wrong" install perhaps? Is there something that can go so wrong at all?

Why didn't you try to give it back (did you?)- it's not doing what it should: drop your car. Did they tell you what could be the problem?

Damn - I don't want to order the stuff from US for ca. € 1600,- (w/ tax etc.) and rise my car in the end! :icon14:

The S-tune spring and shock set (Nismo set) lowered my car 10mm

Measured pre-swap and after install and the measurements were within factory specs as per service manual.

It actually raised my car about .5" in the front and kept it the same in the rear.

Wow, 0.5" higher than before?! :eek: That must look awful, uh?
Did you buy it to raise or to lower your car? ;) Are you satisfied or disappointed?

All good questions. I was not looking for a drop - only improved handling - so I purposely looked at suspension components with a minimum drop. The S-tune stuff was on sale for $800 at Z1 Motorsports, so I went that way.

The suspension was installed by a Nissan mechanic that I know and trust. I know it's installed correctly. As with any automobile, there certain tolerances that are allowed. 10mm is not a whole lot and engineering calculations assume a perfect world with some initial conditions. The drop is just a function of how these tolerances sum up.

I agree that there are better options if your goal includes reduced fender gap.

Well I think it was my car too cuz it was around 27.5" in the front before and after the install it was 28" I ended up getting Swift Spec R springs and it's much better now.

@WhiskeyHotel: Ok, you were not looking for a drop - makes things clearer to understand for me. I think handling will definately change because of stiffer dampers, but a little drop would make it even better (lower gravity center). ;)

Hm, in my experience, all drops from springs & coilovers are by far more than stated by the manufacturer. Eibach needed to revise their 25mm drop from their Pro-System, because a few guys from the German forum had a 38mm drop instead - which was proven by Eibach to be true. Now Eibach claims a 30 mm drop from their springs.
Btw: Tolerance from springs/coilovers are +/- 10mm, which means with a given 10mm drop, you can have a drop from 0mm or 20mm. :eek:

I asked several manufacturer what car/equipment and loading they used to test their systems - no answers so far.

The American 370Z is different in numerous details, the European 370Z is heavier, perhaps that's a explanation for your non-drop...

However, I give up to order a Nismo S Tune and will try to find something else. :rolleyes:
