Leaving the rest of the suspension alone, how much would these sway bars help over stock?

Whats the material of the sway bars made of? I was looking a set of titanium sway bars for the car.

The sway bars function independent to other suspension upgrades such as shocks or coil overs. The sway bars function is to keep the car as flat as possible. These are adjustable, simply disconnecting the rear endlinks and switching the holes will control the amount of tension.

These are steel and powdercoated for corrosion resistance. Titanium is extremely expensive and is not an ideal metal for use on an application like a sway bar. To get titanium as strong as it needs to be for the torsional load, the weight savings is minimal, and there is some real concerns for longevity.

A strut tower brace in titanium is the usual aesthetic option people go for, offering plenty of additional stiffness in that configuration.

From the Stillen website Josh linked, it says they are high strength aircraft grade steel.

Just how much stiffer is the Stillen front sway bar? What is the bar diameter?

The website info was rather generic which is why I'm asking.

I was hoping to have the exact stiffness numbers over stock today, but the techs were on a project. I will have these numbers for you tomorrow. My apologies on the delay..

As promised, here's the stiffness numbers and bar sizes for the STILLEN 370Z Sway Bars.

Front Bar

OEM - 1.040" OD x 0.150" wall
560 lbs. @ 1" Travel

STILLEN - 1.0625" OD x 0.250" wall
720 lbs. @ 1" Travel

28.6% Stiffer


Rear Bar

OEM - 0.945" OD x 0.130" wall
540 lbs @ 1" Travel

STILLEN 3-Way Adjustable - 1.0" OD x 0.188" wall

Softest Setting
740 lbs @ 1" Travel
37.0% Stiffer

Firmest Setting
920 lbs @ 1" Travel
70.4% Stiffer

Polyurethane bushings are also available. I'll work on creating separate part numbers with those included for those that don't want to just use the factory rubber bushings.

I like these numbers if you stay close to stock and dont add coilovers or especially if you just upgrade the springs.

How much to install sways?


Main advantage of Polyurethane bushings over rubber bushings?

These work very well with coilovers.. and springs. Sway bars correct rolling of the vehicle, balancing. It's improving a different aspect of handling than the coilovers or lowering springs.

Install is 1 hr ($99).. urethane bushings stiffen things up a bit vs. the rubber bushings which can flex as vehicles get older. Older urethane bushings would squeak if not super-lubed, but the newer Energy Suspension bushings have some channels designed to hold lubrication in place to combat that.
