OEM type refers mostly to the rear on are cars. OEM type coilovers are similar style to the rear. The spring is separate from the damper ( there not attached). The true type is a basic coilover just as the front is. You eliminate the OEM spring completely and install the true type coilover where the original OEM damper was. Hope this makes since. I have pics for the rear setup. But that will have to wait for I'm not at the house.

So far as DD I'm not sure yet. From what I felt it probably would be a little harsher ride considering the spring rates. But I don't mind it at all. That's me though. Makes it feel I'm in a race car all the time. LOL. My damper for now are set on 8 for know til I get a real good feel of everything. But I'll have to wait for the corner balance and alignment before I can give true feedback. Plus I put sways on to. So I'll have to play with those also. Hope this helps.

Here's a pic of the rear setup.

True type, which is really self exploratory when you think about. I just getting familier with all this myself.

OEM spring removed and not replaced.

got a question for ya. did you install that toe bolt where the camber kit is at?
i see your exhaust mid pipe is off, had to get that off for the sway bar installation?

No I didn't. I installed it at the spring perch where it connects to the body of the car. Can't really see in the last pic but it would of been the inside bolt. Same I did on my 350. Why you ask?

And yes had to remove the exhaust for the sways.

SPOHN 02-13-2011 10:56 AM

Here is my camber arms which also has a cmaber bolt from the OEM that is reused. But the bolt won't have to be adjusted any more due to the arms.

Here is where I dremeled for the toe bolts. Can't really tell from the pic the exact location though. It's closer to the rear than the camber arms or other side of the diff.

Here is rear sway.

Ah nothin, you drilled it at the correct location. Just making sure that's it

Word!

What made you want to go with the true type coiloverrs vs OEM type?

SPOHN 02-13-2011 11:24 AM

Nothing solid really. Just worked out that way so I went with it. I'm being told they are better for performance. Plus there's more adjustability with these.

Not sure what your saying about a bar and a plate. I did read something about a bar if you where to lower it so much. Yes there aluminum collars and upper mounts.

destinyZ 02-13-2011 02:09 PM

haha...sry, i ment you will improve on your times (body roll, stability...). yes mine are true type. i have pics on my profile if you want to check them out.

The guy said that he got the bar with the coilovers. he took out the plate the spring sits on (guess thats supposed to be the lwr control arm) and put the bar in place of it...did that make sence? sorry for the confusion.

At first I didn't like the look of the wheels. But the drop makes it look 10X better.

Ok. Yea I hope to have a LSD in the next couple months. This is a must mod for me.

I know what your saying take out the spring perch and install a bar. That would be nice also. Especially if the bar itself could adjust the toe instead of the bolt.
