Brembo brakes

how are they? are they worth what you pay for?

nogoodname 07-10-2010 09:17 PM

Brembo or Akebono?

I_wanna 370 07-10-2010 09:23 PM

brembo

Mike 07-10-2010 10:24 PM

depends on what you are using them for. Looks or track use?

The 6 piston upgrade I have on the fronts doesn't overheat and boil the fluid in a 20 minute session, so to me they are worth it.

If it were just for looks, then no, they aren't worth it.

Why the heck would you buy expensive brembos just cus the way they looked, pure ricer logic to me :shakes head:

RCZ 07-11-2010 02:38 AM

he doesnt have the car, I think its a little bit of dreaming...

just look at all the no name brake kits out there, especially if you have ever been to SEMA. Brakes have become as much of a fashion accessory as wheels these days. Thats also why I have powdercoated over 1200 sets of corvette brakes in the last 5 yars also.

I know that, but there are cheaper opitions then Brembos that the OP can buy. Like RCZ said if he doesn't even have the car yet, he should just buy the sport pkg. That way he saves some money & he'll get the akebono brakes which he could paint them with any color he likes.

If you get the sport pkg? Your not going to be disappointed, they are much better than the base brakes. With the Akebono's a simple fluid change with track pads and you should be good, if your going to be tracking on a regular basis then yes upgrade to brembo's or other comparable more expensive brakes. The Akebono's for dd and once in a while tracking are good. good luck.

Are you referring to the 370z Sport package brakes? Those are no longer sourced as Brembos but are now Akebonos in nearly all
Nissan/Infiniti models (except the GT-R):

Akebono Brake Corporation

If you are referring to the Brembo Gran Turismo aftermarket kit then that is overkill unless it's a hardcore track car considering a set of four runs you about $5K.
