Carbotech Pads

Im in the market for some brake upgrades, will be ordering a set of Goodridge SS lines and Motul RBF fluid, only this is I cant decide what pads to go with...

I decided to skip the Hawks after reading some threads on how bad they are at cold temps and other personal experiences (Not with my Z but with my previous car).

So this leaves Carbotech as the winner, but what pads are most of you running for street/hard driving, and maybe a couple track days in the year ?

10/8 or 10/10

Like RCZ, I'm running XP10f/XP8r. I've been leaving them on the car all summer to simplify my life with the intermittent weekend events. Ideally, I think I'd like the Carbotech AutoX pads on the car all the time, and then I'll swap them for the 10s/8s for my track days which are less often.

how do the stock rotors hold up to these pads?

spearfish25 06-20-2010 02:58 PM

No increased wear from what I can tell. I've had them on since April 1 and have put about 1,000mi on them with daily driving and one track day. Dusting and squeal are both significant, but I knew that going in.

Your pads will be gone long before your rotors (had about 6 set of Carbotechs in other cars)

Is the part # on their website the correct one for 370Z? They only list one brake application, so base can use the bigger brake pads on the sport?

Just call or email them. Mike Jr is great and will get you all squared away with the correct pads.

I like to know this as well.

There are certainly vendors here who can help you (can't recall who, search will find them). However, I didn't want the extra step and needed them pronto...so I called Carbotech directly.

I bought mine from Forged. Seemed like a pretty reasonable price.

I order XP10f/XP8r.But i received xp8 for the front instead of the 10. So you got to make sure what's in the box.

So my setup is XP8f/XP8r. After 4 track days and around 600 miles on the street there was a noticeable wear specially on the front rotor. With this setup you can feel a slight bias to the rear break (didn't bother me). Dusting and squeal are both significant.

carbotechs for street - ive considered this but due to the increased dust and noise everyone ive talked to has recommended not to. i run project mu ns pads on the street and track without any problems. so far ive got about 30k miles and 8 track days on them and they're still holding up.
