replacement brake pads

When I replace my brake pads I want some that might be better performers but still good street pads. I dont want to upgrade to a full kit just the brake pads and I dont track so just for street.

Carbotech

or i've heard from several people Hawk HPS. Good pads and low on dust.

cossie1600 05-07-2010 12:07 PM

HPS are absolute crap pads. They provide no bite and they dont work well when there is no heat or when it is raining out. I would buy pepboy pads before another set of the HPS crap.

I love my HPS+ pads for the street. Lots of bite and better than OEM pads.
The feedback I've received is not to use them on the track and for the amount of times I've heard it ... I believe it
My research also shows that Carbotech pads are best choice for the track.

do the carbotechs produce alot of brake dust? Im just looking for pads that brake better than the stock ones for street use.

Carbotech's are pure dust... If I don't wash my fronts weekly they look like they're gunmetal. I probably only drive ~50mi/week too.

I would say Hawk pads too. At least one of the local guys is running them on his 350Z Roadster... I haven't heard any complaints.

I am running Hawk HPS pads and like them for the street.

HPS are good for the street..Endless ns97 are better.

abakja1 05-10-2010 04:08 PM

Hawk or Carbotech..
Used both on the Subie and using Hawks primarily for our cars (except for my z as I got Ferrodo with my Brembo caliper upgrade and pad matched Ferrodo for the rear)

I like the Hawk better since I dont track at all....

Sounds good guys thanks, think I will be looking at the Hawks closely.

I plan on using the Hawk HPS for street and the Carbotech XP10/XP8 for track on the same set of RA floating rotors. That way I have a more dust free daily driver for the street and then easily change the pads to the Carbotech for the track without the "bedding in process". The down side will be a rattle with the floating rotors that I hope I will learn to live with and easily explain. The upside is I'm going to have fun at the track and on the street with only a pad change. Of course the wheels/tires will have to be changed in both situations, but that is the price of having both worlds. Scott at Relentless Autosports is also working to set me up with streetable/trackable set of BC coilovers. Getting excited.....
