Maybe it's because i did it after the wheels, that and other sketchy aero testing parts going on the car around the same time :ugh2:

And what difference does it make?

I don't think there is a lighter material available for the base trim rotors. To get lighter rotors it sounds like I would have to first upgrade to the akebono brakes

Correct.

Incorrect. Grab a set of Akebono calipers and buy a set of Z1 2pc rotors and some pads to go with. Not expensive at all. Do what makes you happy man :driving:

I don't track my car yet I opted for the lightweight z1 rotors, are you going to call the performance car police on me too?

Post more about it, and I’m happy to make fun of you

The problem ISNT putting performance parts on a street car - it’s doing so and pretending it’s about performance

I have a carbon varis hood that was almost 2 grand. It probably has a positive cooling effect but I ain’t got any problem sayin I got it because it looks cool

Homeboy posting about rotor material providing a difference when he ain’t going any faster than the Prius makin the same trip to the store

Honesty man.

OP,

High carbon rotors will make for more initial bite and greater thermal capacity and they're cheap. They may be available for the base brakes, I'm not fully certain as I have Sport brakes.

Also running Stoptech street pads, SS lines, MC brace and RBF fluid. Night and day over OE responsiveness, feel and thermal capacity. Very little dust.

Ebc has some. That's what I was planning to get, just wasn't sure it really makes a difference. I was more concerned about the weight of the rotors more than braking performance. After some reading on other forums it doesn't make as big of a difference as I thought.

If you go the high carbon route either post here or make a new thread as to your thoughts. I haven't seen anyone other than myself using them but it's been a great improvement for the street and is economic. I didn't buy EBC's and the one's I am using are black coated everywhere but the fire ring so no more ugly rust look.
