2016 Nismo Suspension too harsh

Hello,

I have a 2016 Nismo, but i feel the suspension is too harsh for me. I only drive the car on the weekends but the GF hates it due to the rough ride.

What aftermarket or OEM suspension setup would provide the softest/most comfortable ride?

Time for a new car bro

Seriously you need to think hard about what you want from your weekend car. Is what you really want a clomfy weekend cruiser? If thats what you’re looking for, there’s probably an audi TT in your future

This is a first: someone wants to soften the suspension in their Z.

I say explore your options for a new GF.

Did you make sure the shipping spring perches have all been removed from the front springs. Thread sticky at the top of this page.

Here is the thread: http://www.the370z.com/nismo-370z/12...-first-18.html

Not having been in a Nismo it is not the first time I have hear complaints of them being harsh and in fact many have said aftermarket coil overs even with stiffer spring rates actually drive smoother than the Nismo’s so I’m guessing the shock valving on Nismo’s must have some excessive low speed damping (I think I read somewhere the rebound is about 400% firmer than a stock sport, so they’re most likely packing on city streets).

I have not used them but for a comfortable coilover I have heard the RSR are good. Personally I feel the powertrix are more comfortable overall than even the sport but I wouldn’t say they are a comfort focused coilover, although their owner also said many have commented on their comfort vs the Nismo which in his words from owners is bone jarring.

The Ohlins DFV was by far the most comfortable suspension I have had on my car.

You realize you bought a sports car, right??

Does your Z have the red nismo springs?

If so, I'll trade you for the base springs.

Having test driven multiple 15+ Nismo lately, I gotta say this car isn’t that harsh, certainly few notches more livable than the 09-14 ones.

Having driven a Nismo Z your same year I could tell you that the ride quality is actually excellent for a Japanese sports car and only a little stiffer than the base Z suspension. Swapping out your springs to the base springs would be a good place to start but,the springs rates are not much more aggressive though comparing base Z springs to the red Nismo Z springs. Also the Nismo Z front and rear sway bars are stiffer as well. If your girlfriend said that she does not like your Nismo Z throw her to the wolf’s and start dating other women would be good advice here.

It was the shipping spacer, per his post in that thread, lol

Don’t think his girl friend will complain anymore

LOL, that is funny as hell. I had a feeling that is what it was. My first 2012 Nismo I bought used with 19k on the clock had them on there. I looked at the springs before I bought it and there they were. LOL, no wonder he traded the dang thing in for a Mustang. I wasn't on the forum back then but I was a Tech for Nissan several years. I have even pulled these off on a 1996 30k mile 300zxtt when it came in for service. Back then they were made of rubber, not plastic.
