Living on the other part of earth, I faced this issue, I had Zeal Function coilovers, they was a great set, but I had an accident and suspected they may be damaged from the impact and wanted to get stiffer springs, couldn't find any local dealer (which apply for all brands here :rofl2:) and shipping them + service costs + shipping back was nearly as much as new set of coilovers, I sold them for cheap, and bought a new set from MCA with custom springs and valving.



Fortune will be local to you, so you can save a lot in shipping, also, their coilovers are upgradeable, so if you got 500 or 510 series, you can upgrade them to 2-way or 3-way. They have a lot of great reviews and many members using them here.



At the end, the most important in coilovers are the shocks and valving.



Also, you need to be wary of spring rates with true type coilovers.


This is a great point. I have called Fortune and talked with them over the phone. They recommend to go with the 510 and upgrade to swift springs with 13 and 9 springs in front and back.

They also gave me a great price, I wish it did not take 4-5 weeks to ship lol. I am getting the founds and will go and order them.

A 9kg/mm spring in the back on a true coilover is probably too much. I would look at more in the 7kg/mm range.

Yup, spooler is right. Your spring rates are appropriate for a divorced spring (OEM type) setup; when you change to true type the geometry change and you need to adjust the spring rate accordingly

4-5 weeks is not a long time to wait on parts. Wait until they tell you 4-5 months. :icon14:

Think you made the right choice with the Fortune coil-overs.

I agree with others, rear is stiff, I would say 5kg or 6kg if you don't have a wing. I have 21kg/7kg and it gives a good balance with some play between understeer and oversteer (depends on how much rake I have).

The wait is likely due to requesting such a specific set up. Mostly luck; i bought a set for my IS300 during a black friday sale when they had a bunch of un-sold stock leftover from whatever their last production run was. saved a few hundred bucks

best part - they actually screwed up their inventory system, my order was listed as in stock but not in stock. They built me a new set with the latest version of parts and honored the discount price. lol

If you wanna be baller you should get their Air Piston lift system too.

Fortune's customer service is fantastic however I wonder about their calculations when it comes true type setup on our cars. Do your homework and or get help!

I think a 7k true is about equal to 11-12k OEM type right? So that would probably match 13k front better

Spooler from reading OZ link I do think I need to go with 7kg/mm or even 6kg/mm

OZ thanks for the link, I am still reading it over and over as there is so much information in there but from what I was able to understand till now it looks like i need to go with front 14kg/mm or 13kg/mm and rear 7kg/mm or 6kg/mm.

I don't have any aftermarket aero only the Nismo wing and lip that came with the car and the back of the car is gutted. Adding aero
and gut the front (100% stock today) are things that I will do one day, but when I will do them I will also need to change the spring rates.

What do you guys think about these numbers?
