Drilled&Slotted Rotors

I have been looking at the Z1 (sport) brake upgrade package. I’d love to have the Drilled AND slotted over just the slotted, but are there any down sides?
Do they wear quicker? Warp easier? I know some people say only get slotted if you’re running track related drives.

Cross drilled and slotted are for show

Blanks for street

Two piece for track

Just say no to drilled rotors. If you don't plan to track or hit they canyons hard then you may be ok. But I wouldn't

I love my sprinkle slotted 2-piece

RacingBrake 2 piece.

Real men dont lift off the gas.

Jk get oem blanks if you arent doing any track. Cheaper, last longer and well... do the job better for street even mild track.

If you're not going to track your car, then go for it.

The only downside is that some members of this forum will give you grief.

I LOOOOOOVEEE my drilled rotors... So sexy

Drilled still are prone to cracking with hard use. sprinkle slot, j hook, slot, dimpled, and blanks are all fine. You don't need two piece for track work, but it sure helps.

My race shop suggested stock non slotted, non drilled rotors. I was skeptical at first, but I’m telling you, they work just as well as the Stillen slotted/drilled rotors that I was using before. My Z is a full time track car, and I hammer those rotors VERY hard with zero issues and great control. And they are super cheap. They don’t look as cool as slotted/drilled, but that’s not a concern for me. I’m sure some folks here will disagree, but I’m a believer.

The actual "cooling" comes from internal venting, not cross-drilling. That feature was primarily for releasing harmful gases that are no longer an issue with modern braking systems

The "cross drilled and slotted" rotors you buy these days for cheap are made of subpar material and in cheap factories

A "blank rotor" has literally more mass than a cross drilled and slotted rotors of equal size . . . i mean literally, because it doesn't have stuff cut out of it. More mass means more heat dissapation. Also, they won't kill your pads as quickly

There are ways to make good cross drilled rotors but i'm betting when Porsche does it they're doing it with more care than your china factory selling **** on ebay.

And again, if you're going to a track and driving hard, the best option (that will be more expensive), are 2 piece rotors that are lighter and properly vented. Racing brake is the best and most expensive, DBA is middle priced, and Z1 is the cheapest. Folks have been using Z1 on track and mostly been fine until the highest levels

Rusty has racing brake. I think they are slightly thicker than stock size so you dont save as much weight but they sure as hell work

also, if you're tracking . . . brake ducts and tires are gonna matter

Also, there is different grades, and hardness of cast iron used in the rotors. My RacingBrake rotors had one dimple in each rotor. That dimple is from a hardness tester. How many other rotor companies have that?
