It's hard I know...lol Lots of "stiff" competition to choose from. See what I did there?

I think it has to do more with matching items to compliment each other. Also sway bars do limit how independent the suspension is and in the example given by stillen hitting a bump mid turn (imperfect streets) could possibly cause a dangerous situation. Also the stiffer bars are going to put more load on the tires and prevent camber change so you need a more static neg camber and a soft tire compound to take advantage of the super stiff bar. If you have a softer bar it will have more roll but allow the wheel to travel and gain negative camber (a good thing) so now you don't need to start as staticly neg for the street saving you tires. In a sense when turning you are trying to absorb that energy and make it shift direction so your parts should match and compliment each other. If stiffest is always better than let's take the extreme, let's think how a go kart would handle (flattest turning possible, no movement there) and slap hard compound tires on there and watch it slide right off the track like a bar of soap.

Just my thoughts though.

It depends what you want to do and how you want to set your car up. I prefer a stiffer sway-bar but I like to run the dampers/springs a little softer. It is trial and error to your tastes of what you like.

With my set up. Over squared. LOL. Hotchkis front bar and Hotchkis rear bar set on soft. With the 345's on the rear. I need the Hotchkis bar. I track and DD my Nismo. The car stays flat. Alignment setting come into play also. On the front. Camber is -2, Caster is +7, Toe is a hair in. The rear Camber is -1.75, Toe is a hair in. Great turn in, stays mid turn, Sometimes have trouble getting out of the turn because of my LSD diff got hot and giving me fits. :shakes head: The car gets twitchy at speed. Suits me perect. :D

Ride quality/comfort is subjective. I personally can't stand the ride in a Lotus Exige for the street, but my buddy loves it and thinks it is plenty comfortable. The stiffer bars reduce roll more, but that does not always mean your limits are inherently increased.

Sounds like your suspension is properly set up for the most part. Maybe you just need a Diff cooler now?

True it can be subjective. Although after hitting the canyons and tracking the car for the past 18 months, I would say the limits have been pushed.

I'm running stock suspension and reduction in body roll was very noticeable after the upgrade. The z did not feel like it was understeering as bad as it was before.

Fast forward to sept 2015, I started running a square 18 in wheel setup with 275's all around. Adding this to the mix further improved turn in, rotation and reduced the understeer inheirent from the factory staggered setup. With wider tires up front than the 245's I had before, the sway bar keeps more front tire on the pavement under hard cornering and I am now seeing a definite change in handling. It's snappier and darts around a bit when it catches a groove in the road.

Like I said in my original post, the sway bar should not be affecting compression and dampening that much when putting around town where people might feel like they are riding in a car with higher spring rate springs or coils with a smaller range of compression. The only place where I felt I could really notice the sway bar is in the canyons and the track.

Running a square setup with the Hotchkis makes a lot of sense. Because of the stiffness ratings of the bar a square setup would reduce the understeer.

I didn't mean to say your cars limits were lower, just wanted to clarify that when people say the car rolls less, it doesn't necessarily mean the limits are increased. Some people only look at part of the statement or equation when it comes to handling.

That is true the stiffer sway bars won't effect the compression and rebound. You would notice on a road with uneven bumps. If both sides of the suspension are going up and down at the same time the sways won't make it more uncomfortable, but in a lot of areas if one side is hitting bumps and the other isn't is can get a bit annoying IMO.

A Wavetec is in the cards with a cooler maybe.
