Caliper rebuild

I dont have an air compressor, so my question is does a can of compressed air have enough PSI to push the pistons out of the caliper?

lol no and you don't want to be spraying those chemicals around your brakes

Well, part of the rebuild would be to clean after disassembly, so whatever chemicals wouldnt matter. What would be the best way to get those pistons out without an air compressor?

Hmm.. Ill have to invest in piston wrenches...lol.. thx man!

Invest in an air compressor instead, you'll be much happier in the future

I rebuilt EW's calipers. Air makes it easy to pop the pistons out. After you split the caliper into 2 halves. Use 2 clamps to keep the pistons from flying out of the halves.

You have to watch what chemicals you use to clean the housing with. Fresh brake cleaner will remove the coating.

The only caliper rebuild kit that I know that has the o-ring that goes between the caliper halves is Z1.

:iagree:

It doesn't take an expensive compressor for jobs such as filling tires and popping brake pistons out of the caliper.
I have one of those over-grown-aquarium-pump type compressors with a two gallon tank. Does great at filling tires, blowing off my work bench, and other miscellaneous jobs. It won't drive an air wrench but I don't have any air wrenches.
