New Brakes

I think I need new brakes, but I'm not inclined to do them myself. My question is if an independent shop could do them....properly? My closest dealer is over an hour away and I really don't want to sit and wait. I assume even doing just the front brakes will take a while. I guess my question is if there is anything special about changing the rotors and pads on the Z?

Nope

If you have any mechanicing experience, changing rotors and pads will be an fairly easy job. If you are unsure about what you are doing, download the FSM (link in sig) and/or watch a few Youtube vids.
Definitely not a dealer-only job. No special tools or fancy electronics required. Any mechanic should be able to handle it.

If this is routine maintenance, you may not need to replace the rotors.

There is nothing special about changing pads, the only thing is if your really meticulous you would need a torque wrench. Other then that you just need a driveway, basic hand tools, and a little elbow grease. But to answer your question any shop can do it easily and quickly.
