Caliper bolts
Anyone know what the torque specs of the four 14mm bolts that hold the two halves of the caliper are?
|
The FSM does not appear to specify the torque for these bolts on the sport brakes.
There are similar bolts (2 instead of 4) on the base brake calipers. Pages BR-39 (for front) and BR-52 (for rear) in my 2011 FSM specify 20 ft-lbs and 32 ft-lbs, respectively, for these bolts. Something in that range seems like it should be safe for the sport brake calipers. Not sure why the rear is supposed to be torqued more than the front, but I'd probably just split the difference on both F/R (~25 ft-lbs). |
There are charts on the Intertubes, eg, https://www.portlandbolt.com/technic...-torque-chart/ , that will get you close enough. FWIW, bolt torque is an indirect measurement of bolt stretch and can vary quite a bit depending on thread condition, lubrication, etc.

I couldn't find the torque spec for those bolts either when I rebuilt a few others. I used a chart for bolt diameter. https://www.fastenal.com/content/fed...0Fasteners.pdf |
