370z possible rear suspension issue
I have a 2017 370z base model, with minor suspension mods as follows: 20mm spacers all around, Swift lowering springs, and rear camber arms.
There seems to be a small suspension issue in the rear. Whenever maneuvering at low speeds or reversing, the rear right wheel feels as if its going over a bump, even if the path is perfectly level. Something feels loose or uneven, even though everything is torqued down tight. There is a minor clunking noise that occasionally happens along with the uneven bump feeling. Sounds like a deep clunking noise. Any ideas as to what the problem is and how to fix it? |
Jack the car up. Take a pry bar and try to move the cambers arms at the joints. Do this with the other arms too. Should be no play. Who's camber arms you have? Also. Grab the tire at the 12 and 6 position. Push the top in and pull the bottom, and reverse the motion. Should be no play. Now Grab the tire at the 3 and 9 position. Do the samething. Push/pull. Should be no play. IF you have play. Get someone to help you. They have to do the push/pull. While you look to see where the play is coming from.

Thanks for the reply! I jacked it up and did what you described, there was absolutely no play anywhere. The camber arms were solid in place as well, theyre from Voodoo13. I also retorqued most of the suspension, its weird, the uneven feeling only occurs at low speeds when im in reverse backing out or going slow. It smooths out once im going more than 10 mph+ or so
any other ideas as to what it could be? |
I've had the same issue, and I can't seem to diagnose it either. It's a pretty random low-speed clunking noise coming from the back right as well. I thought it was my rear endlinks going, but I took it apart and everything seems to be fine. Didn't solve the problem though.
Is something binding? |
2 other things to check. Your diff bushing. Look and see if there is any black streaks on the diff cover. If there is. The diff bushing has failed. The other thing to check is the axle nut on the hub. Those have been known to cause noise. Think there might be a TSB on it.

give me a heads up bp if you end up finding out whats wrong with it, i can't seem to diagnose it either and its driving me crazy.
the car still handles great and is fine at higher speeds but low speed it clunks like crazy. |
Sub'd for curiosity.
Check for an abnormal amount of rear toe, in or out. At ride height. |
Going by previous posts on this site, I think Rusty may be on the right track about it being an axle nut. It seems to be a fairly common problem with the same or similar symptoms to your's.

Don’t forget about parking brake shoes inside rear brake rotors; inspect & keep them adjusted properly.
