Poly mounts trans/motor for a street car - worth it?

With the Black Friday thing going on, looking at maybe purchasing the poly trans and motor mounts from Z1. Car is strickly a street car, current suspension is pretty much all SPL except for bushings along with coilovers.

Pro/Cons putting the mounts on? Wasting my time/money? Vibration? Looking for some feedback.

Do it...no downside! You will improve shifting as it will eliminate some of the twist or torque on the trany.

There will be an increase in vibrations, but it is not as big as a problem as the wobbly gear stick slop you get from oem bushings.

Without diff bushing though, you may notice a bit of a yaw in the shifter under cornering loads. It just something you may notice, so don't be alarmed.

If you have an auto, none of this should be a problem. Just slightly higher cabin vibrations.

If the noise is too excessive or gets worse over time, you'll want to re-torque the bolts.

Yeah man do it if you have the time and money.

Solid motors mounts are no issue, engine is glass! Poly tranny mount you'll hear it all!

Lol, not sure what sound they make with all the other spl bushing and z1 solid motor mounts and poly trans mount. You will get some noise from a change to solid diff bushing. I really can't tell you that I notice an increase in vibration do to solid and poly mounts. But my sensitivity to such things are pretty much zero...because race car and you know what I mean lol!

it will definitely feel like a brand new car or even better. Firmer shifts and your engine will want to keep going lol..con if ur not installing yourself will be costly. since you do have to dis. tranny and lift engine .. but on the other hand youll never have to replace those parts again! if ur getting the ones from z1 youll hear new sounds and at a stop it will vibrate a bit.. but if you like to pull through the gears oh boy..

Worth it!

With poly bushings. You will get a slight increase in vibs. Shifter won't bounce around as much. Good up grade for any car.

If you have full SPL suspension, you are obviously serious enough to tell the poly trans mount to fuck off. Go solid all the way. I just bought another daily driver which means my wife doesn't have to ride in the Z when we can't take her car. Solid mounts all around are going in first opportunity. I can't tell you how happy I am to finally be able to say NVH BE DAMNED!!!

If NVH is still an issue for you, then the poly mount is still an excellent upgrade. Much crisper shifts from my limited experience...

No problem here with poly mounts and I drive a G37s Sedan. Shifts are more crisp now.

I pulled the trigger and bought both... Winter/spring time project....

Just installed my poly transmission mount and im loving the extra feel it adds to the car. I will say though the vibrations are a little more than I expected especially decelerating in gear, the vibrations are more random though and sometimes they are present sometimes they arent, I also noticed that it made my exhaust sound louder/deeper but in a good way. Overall I would recommend them if you want to add more feel to the car and dont mind the extra vibrations and noise it comes with.

Drive shaft binding noise - Poly Tran Mount

So I have installed the poly trans mount on my 2010 370 about 4 times now and every time I get a binding noise coming from the drive shaft. I have sent picture and video to Z1 to diagnose the sounds but they haven't be very responsive (sound quality not that good either). That said I had a mechanic look at it with me and he definitely agrees there is noise coming from the ends of the driveline (mostly in the front). My question is, when all of you installed the poly mount did you experience the same sound. The first few time it actually made some popping and cracking noises as well, but this last time it just made the binding noise. It seem to me that the variance between the stock mount and the Z1 mount is causing undo wear on the u-joints, but without measuring the difference in the two after they have been installed its impossible to know, so I thought I would just ask all of you. I also got the poly motor mounts as well, haven't put them in yet.

I never had any sounds as the ones you are describing. I have the Z1 poly trans mount as well. Have you got this sorted yet?
