Brake Pads replacement - any suggestions?
Hi. I've a 2017 370Z Coupe Touring. I had the car for less than 9 months. During this time, I took the car to the dealer 3 different times because of brake noise. The noise comes when I'm pressing the brakes gently to slow down on low speeds. There is no noise when I press the brakes hard. Every time, the dealer would remove the brake pads, check them, clean them with a spray and and put them back. After that, the brakes will be squeak-free for a couple of days and then....the noise is back.
The last time, the mechanic told me the cause is the brake pads producing too much carbon dust and he showed me the brake pads with a lot of dust build up on them. There is no noticeable affect on the braking, but the sound is annoying the hell out of me. I intend to change the brake pads at the end of the year. So, can you please suggest a good brand? Thanks. |
Everyone and their brother will give you their choices of replacement pads. And some will tell you to search. :( Be prepared.
Questions to ask yourself. What type of driving I do? DD, Canyon, Auto-X, Trackday? And what % do I do of each? If we know what type of driving. The better the answers. ;) |
This is like the best motor oil discussion. So many to choose from.

Thanks for the replies. This Z is my only car. So it's mostly daily driving with the occasional 140-160 MPH runs. I want brake pads that are known to NOT have the squeaking noise problem. Cost is not a major factor but reliability is.

EBC Yellow Stuff is a good pad for your driving without noise. Anything better would normally have noise. Pagid is better than EBC, but they don't offer anything for our Akebono brakes.

Bringing this back even though I wouldn't necessarily call it dead. I've tried looking at other posts but there was no definite answers probably because no one has the base brakes anymore lol. But what are some good brake pads that have low dust? I daily drive it and do spirited driving on the highway.. Main concern is the brake dust, and I have no idea what brand offers good ones for those without the akebono bbk

IMO: Carbotech 1521; StopTech Street Brake Pads
Though any pad will work for street driving. |

I have seen many z drivers talk and use carbotech pads on the forum. Z1 sells them. I bought EBC red pads for DD and have no complaints of dust or squeal after 10k miles. I had amazon money so that had some influence. good luck.:driving:

Yes they fit for non sport too.
Forged Performance also carries Carbotech for price comparison shopping. Tire rack carries stoptech. |
