Advice on which brake pad to choose.
 

I'm looking to buy the sport akebono upgrade package from Z1, this is the link

I am mainly looking for advice to choose which brake pad, but input on which Rotor (Slotted or drilled + slotted) is welcomed.

No track days, only "spirited" street driving.

An aggressive pad that has mild squeal, medium dust, but aggressive and can hold heat are EBC Yellowstuff. They aren't carbotech expensive either. They held up to abuse at the dragon, the rotors were blue, but the rbf600 didn't boil, and my pads held. That's about as aggressive as you're going to get on the street. It has decent bite when cold, better with some heat.

Based on that, you really will not encounter any brake problems with OEM style. Go for low dust and quiet and even blank rotors will work fine. The more you go for performance the more problems you will encounter. I have had nothing but problems with the Z1 slotted rotors and carbo tech pads of any sort make a lot of dust and noise.

I don't think you had a problem per say. It appears your expectations were incorrect. I run the Z1 2 piece rotors all around and carbotech XP8's all around. They do just what they are supposed to do, stop me. Dust and some noise from time to time was expected.

I've got Stop Tech 2 pc. slotted rotors and ST 'Street' pads. Seem to do the job just fine for 'spirited' driving in the twisties.

Out of the given possible choices in the z1 upgrade package though. What would you guys recommend

Don't want I hi jack thread but while we're on subject of pads I use oem and swap to xp10/xp8 for track. Haven't had an issue yet but supposedly the two compounds are not compatible. Carbotech does however say all their compounds are compatible with each other. So thinking to get some 1521 for street so I'll have less re bed in time and piece of mind when swapping pads. Anyone use 1521 for street? Supposed to be no noise and lighter dust (I don't expect oem dust level but don't want squeal on daily).

Sorry for expecting the slots on the rotors should be somewhat similar in depth and width.

Just get the the basic setup as you don't need better rotors or brakes that come as an upgrade. Get SS braided brake lines and good brake fluid and you will be good to go! There is no need for over kill on the street and what will impact you more on twisty roads is under steer. If you want to see real improvement get a stiffer front roll bar an then maybe an upgrade in brake pads will be in order.

I bought a used set up so Im getting new rotors and brake pads along with paintinf the silver infiniti calipers red

Right on! There are a couple of quality rotors and pad combos. As someone said stoptech pads and rotors and ebc makes both and red stuff pads work well enough for what you are looking for. They worked well for me including runs on the dragon.

Red stuff doesn't dust as much as yellow stuff as they are not as an aggressive pad.

I am on StopTech slotted rotors and XP10's (front) & XP8's (rear). Love them. Absolutely fantastic grab once they are warmed up. Heads up though... the brake squeal is REAL. When I park in the parking garage every morning... I imagine some of the smokers in the smoking area might be getting a little bit of hearing loss because of me.

Out of z1s choices I would do the posiquite pads and slotted rotors only. I went that route and didn't regret it at all. The low dust and no noise was awesome. Braking power was still very good as well

Also consider braided steel lines and if you are getting hot, the Stillen brake ducts really help.

I ran hawk plus and slotted only Z1,rotors at the track quite a bit and love the combo. It's squeaky and dusty around town though. The rotors are noticeably lighter and feel great on OEM calipers with street pads
