Rear Tower bar, functional?

Hi,

So I have been googling for the past hour or so to see if this thing is actually functional. Regular Car Review was the only person I've ever heard say it wasn't. I always thought it was and saw a Nissan video once comparing the rigidity of the 370 to the 350 and I thought it was shown to be functional. Either way, its hard info to find.

Is it functional?

Can it be made functional?

If you change it to a titanium bar is it an improvement?

What do they guys with that extra bat from the shock port think of the add on?

If you're wondering why I'm asking or why I care, lets just say for educational purposes.:driving:

It's a piece of thin wall aluminum tubing that doesn't do squat. :shakes head: Don't even think about attaching a 5 or a 6 point harness on it.

This should answer your other questions. :D

;( Thanks! I'm also guessing that the harness bar doesn't do much as far as rigidity goes?

Now I'm curious if anyone has done a straight clean delete of this? IF it aint functional I'm not sure its worth keeping.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but are you saying I can remove that bar completely without any problems (my car is a DD, no track)? Because that would be amazing if I could, my folding Ebike would fit then.

It's for looks. No functionality.

It there for a reason. To keep chit from flying into the back of the seating when you crash. And a place to mount your GoPro camera.
