Racing Brakes

Question for people who drive there cars on the street and track and switch pads. I just bought a set for carbotech xp10/8 and a set of street pads. The carbotech pads will be on Used rotors, Should i have "my rotors reconditioned/turned with a fine cut" before racing on the track ( i was reading the instructions)? I'll have new slotted oem rotors going on the front ( I will be driving on the street until road atlanta in October and the rears have been on since i bought the car 2 1/2 years ago).

My understanding is that changing pad compounds (i.e. ceramic to metallic) on the same rotors requires reconditioning of the rotor surface. I've heard some guys just scuff it up with sandpaper, although I've never done it and don't know what grit they use.

I don't think you'll have any problems. I just switched back and forth with xp10/xp8 and has no issues. I think that is one of the selling points of the carbotech is they are able to swap back and forth vs other pads like hawk.

Yup, I'm running the same setup with no issues. If should be aware that if drive them on the street they are going to make a lot of noise even if you lube them. It's funny, since temps are near over a 100* they don't make much noise because they are always hot.

Awesome, i was just worried every event i would have to get my rotors machined for the pads

I daily drove XP10/8's for a year. I sanded the rotors down on the rear as I didn't replace them. They did fine. They were great pads around town, especially when you get to play the game of how loudly you can come to a stop at red lights lol.
