Height adjustable Rebound adjustable Compression adjustable available Swift spring available custom valving |
I personally resisted in creating such a thread because of the many variables. :ugh2:
I'll hope it's very comprehensive since it's going to serve as the (Bible) This will serve to educate those looking to go in this direction with basic specs. It'll be stickied so its easy to find. Thanks osbornsm :) |
You need to organize them two ways.
Coilovers by brand with subsections for different models in the brand Coilovers by features and options. Also, You're missing ISC along with the different models of Stance and BC dont forget details such as top mount type (rubber, pillowball), OEM vs true type, and thrust bearing options links to damper dynos if available. Also, I don't agree with your rebound and compression descriptions. Dampers are measured in units of (Force * Time)/Distance. They are used to control oscillation amplitudes by resisting force, not producing force. |
Just to throw this out there, if you're putting $2200 for KW V3s (not the MSRP) then you shouldn't put the MSRP of any of the coils. Like I got my Bilsteins for much, MUCH less than that.
Also, I think it should include spring rates/type of spring (stock form) Like KW V3 10k/9k progressive spring. BC/BR 10k/8k linear spring. |
AST 5200 series
2-way adjustable w/remote reservoirs spring rate and valving per purchaser specs $5,500 |

2. I put prices according to Z1 and Tire rack (see disclaimer) 3. I will gladly update the thread with any formatting and content changes deemed necessary. 4. "Add categories" doesn't count as a valid change :p

Need to throw in Moton and JRZ. For sticker shock value. Custom Ohlins. |

Don't for get custom Aragosta coilovers. 5k and 6 month wait. Pillow ball top mount. Side adjustment on rear shocks. 12K front and 10K rear linear spring.
|
BC racing BR's, and also all of their models, can be custom valved and custom sprung with swift springs.
|
Can you define the difference between linear and progressive springs?
The advantage of a true type coils vs the Oem style? |

If you're gonna try to make a sticky thread and call it a "bible" then it needs to be accurate and detailed. I'll work on gathering information but I'm surprised the mods stickied this already considering how little information you had before posting it. |

damp·ing ˈdampiNG/Submit noun 1. technical a decrease in the amplitude of an oscillation as a result of energy being drained from the system to overcome frictional or other resistive forces. damp·en ˈdampən/Submit verb gerund or present participle: dampening 1. make slightly wet. "the fine rain dampened her face" synonyms: moisten, damp, wet, dew, water; literarybedew "the rain dampened her face" 2. make less strong or intense. "nothing could dampen her enthusiasm" 2 will confuse some people but it's used in a metaphorical sense. In this case, the opposite of being enthusiastic would be a wet towel. In any case, please stop watering your cars. Water humor, I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your waiter. :icon17: And if you took this post WAY too seriously you can go argue with these fine fellows, I, honestly, don't have the energy: http://english.stackexchange.com/que...rring-to-sound |

This is only the 1st installment of the 370z bible. I've made several others... just had work @ work today, weird right? ;) |

I should've waited for more info to come in. I'll look into sticking it later on as it matures with info. For others As for bible in title? Yes, I think it may have been a stretch. :ugh2: I'll edit it and again will see how in depth this gets. Thank You for those contributing pros/cons |
Wait - If we're going to call this the bible shouldn't it be wildly inaccurate and full of easily disproved fairy tales?

notes: all coilovers are height adjustable... dampers are either 1 way, 2 way, or 3 way. you listed many 1 way coilovers as 2 way. (EX: D2 Racing RS, BC racing BR) Tein only offers 3 coil sets for the z34. 1 has no dampening adjustment, the others have one way. NISSAN 370Z I would still like to see other important features mentioned such as the ones outlined in the acronym system I suggested. |

it was stickied and then demoted 3 days later!!! :worship: |
I'm happy with my Powertrix coilovers. Charles, the owner, designed them for the Z and also offers upgraded Swift springs.
