Ksport calipers vs stop tech trophy calipers

whats the real difference between calipers!?

Mike 04-12-2015 09:15 AM

K sport are ok brakes. I don't know what kind of R&D they put into the design and testing for each car. I know that stoptech puts a lot into that area and I know from experience the stoptech trophy brakes are the best I have ever experienced and I have had zero issues with braking on the track since I got them a few years back.

For the street, either one is fine if you are just going for looks.

Posts from AP and Brembo reps above contain some good insights.

Upgrade your Caliper Pistons (not really sure about Akebono's but Brembo upgrades make a hell of a difference)/Cooling/ABS System and you will gain far more then any aftermarket caliper upgrade.

When it comes to calipers, if the brand doesn't start with "A or B, stay away from it". Is a funny quote someone used recently.

Its amazing how many manufactures fall into that classification.

When it comes to technology Brembo and AP are without a doubt the gold standard.

However, just because the ultimate amount of technology it doesn't mean that they are the best for every application. Remember, Doran Racing 370Z went from Brembo to Stoptech calipers. I am sure it has nothing to do with the quality of the Brembo caliper but rather the stoptech offered something the Brembo units did not. (I imagine its a better Brake Bias) ;)

To clarify, I would say if the name starts with A and it's not AP, Alcon, Akebono, I'll stay away.

been a while since ive checked my posts - BUT im going for track performance - Z1 runs their brake package on their time attack car - they seem have no issue - would those be fine or for occasional track use or would it be several thousand more worth it to do an AP racing kit?

Just to throw this out there...

I have a full brand new Stoptech 6/4 pot kit for sale, brand new. Lol

Free stuff most likely. Brembo doesn't give away anything for free lol. Brembo, Endless, AP, those guys have no need to hand out free product because the best teams in the world already demand their product. But those are the market leaders and they have been around for a long time. It's just like SPL doesn't give away didly squat, they don't need to sponsor anyone, if you want the best you pretty much have to buy SPL-or make your own.

I can tell you cost or product handout had nothing to do with the switch.

GSS138 04-21-2015 03:18 PM

OK, so you must work for or own Doran Racing? If so how did the stoptechs hold up during testing etc? What were some deciding factors. I know what a brake budget can be.
