E brake light coming on

Some help guys:

I have a 13Z MT. More or less like 2-3 month ago I started seeing that the E BRAKE light comes on un the dash panel when I shift from 2nd - 3ers or 3rd - 4th and usually when i go 3,500 rpms or up.

I had a music system installed more than a year ago and now this problem comes up. I doubt it could be the system installed unless is doing ground somewhere.

does anyone has this problem??
If I take it to nissan could they use the music system no to fix it by the warranty??

Are you sure it is for the e-brake only? It could be an indicator for low brake fluid.

Yes, same light the turns on when I pulled the E-Brake when I park

BGTV8 02-05-2015 05:27 PM

Yep, BUT check that it is not being illuminated as a consequence of low brake fluid as well.

The sensor for the parking brake is attached to the hand-brake handle assembly under the plastic trans-tunnel cover and if this was removed and/or disturbed when your music system was installed, you may only need to remove the plastic cover, reroute whatever wiring is causing the issue to rectify.

Ok, i'll check the brake fuid to see how it looks.

Low brake fluid if it only illuminates as you are accelerating. It is causing the fluid to shift, making the sensor think it is low. It will start to stay illuminated (after it illuminates the first time) the lower your fluid gets. Top off the fluid and it should go away.

Check your brake fluid. If it's low. Also check your brake pads. When your pads get thin. The level goes low too. ;)

This issue can begin to happen even when the fluid is half way between the max & min levels. It might look like it is ok, but top it off before bringing it to the dealer. I think you'll be pleased with the easy results!

I'm quite sure that it can illuminate due to low brake fluid. It has happened to me several times.

OP, top off your brake fluid to the max line. I have seen both the BRAKE (e-brake) and ABLS (slip indicator) light come on because of a low brake fluid level. I've had them come on independently and together, and topping off the brake fluid to the max line has turned off the lights every time for me. I've even had them come on when the fluid level was more than half way between the MIN and MAX levels.

ive had my ebrake and slip lights come on under acceleration recently. better check my fluid level. :tiphat:

My light was turning on as well, when I would accelerate. Was very low on fluid, filled it up and it has not illuminated since.

MR.nismo 03-10-2015 01:32 AM

Top off brake fluid and done deal. I had the same issue on my previous Z, ABS light would come on, Brake light would come on under hard accelerations and a few ounces of brake fluid fixed the problem.

had the same issue. got it checked at the dealer and it was the brake fluid. Mechanic said it was low and dirty. Got it flushed and topped off for about $120. They said to do it about every 10K not sure about that though

LOL 10K miles. Even the owner's manual says 2 years or 30K miles. I like to do mine at one year or 15K miles. But I DIY and it costs me <$40 plus about 90 minutes of my time.

How old was your brake fluid at the time? If they're telling you to use a 10K change interval, I bet your fluid was perfectly fine. A flush for $120 is much better profit margin than them just topping off the fluid for free :shakes head:
