Will do as soon as I receive my backing plates.

I've held the new emblems up against the burgers on the car and it appears to be a perfect fitment.

dmhenderson 09-20-2012 04:16 PM

Never mind.

dmhenderson 09-20-2012 05:08 PM

Ok apparently I'm a moron and didn't send the PM I wrote so I'll re-send with the transaction ID etc.

anhdat503 09-20-2012 11:28 PM

dmhenderson 09-21-2012 06:09 AM

mardigras 09-21-2012 07:46 AM

I agree, I'd like to see the chrome/no backplate on the car

pfdaxe 09-21-2012 10:49 AM

When they ship them at the end of the month, I'm sure plenty of people will post pics

Nillaz 09-21-2012 11:02 AM

Putting these on with no back plate will require some body work to fill the hole behind the emblem. It would probably be more practical to have a back plate paint matched to your car.

mardigras 09-21-2012 11:11 AM

uh what hole behind the back plate? why would they sell something that would require this?? I just ordered mine too...

Behind the stock emblem on the OEM bumper there is an indent that would be visible with the new emblems. You must use a backing plate to hide this, otherwise it will require filling/painting your bumper.

I've had the new chrome emblems for several weeks now, but haven't received my backing plates so for now the factory burgers are still on the car. I'm starting to consider making my own backing plates and having them paint matched. I might call my dealership this afternoon to see what they can do for me.

That is true, unless you are putting it on an aftermarket bumper like Amuse or Stillen. Those do not need a back plate. It's only needed on the stock bumpers.

mardigras 09-21-2012 08:40 PM

Well since that is the case I will need to cancel my order. Please refund my order to: interpc1972@yahoo.com since I had No idea this would not cover up any holes in my bumper...

dmhenderson 09-21-2012 08:44 PM

If you have one of the carbon fiber (or otherwise) backplates it does cover the holes just fine...? Are you that dead set on the emblems without backing?

dmhenderson 09-21-2012 08:45 PM

Also a little concerned that I haven't heard back from the OP. Worried that his original post said "first 100 pairs" but that he really meant "10 pairs". I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

This is whats behind the emblem:

This is what it would look like without the backing:

This is what it would sort off look like with CF background. This is a 350 emblem.

Grindkiezer 09-22-2012 02:46 AM

Do you have a pic of a Black emblem with no back plate?

Nevermind, I found it ^

pfdaxe 09-23-2012 10:23 PM

I've sent a couple of PMs to Jay and waiting to hear back. I ask to add black CF back plate instead of no back plate. I forgot about the dip below the emblem.

pty370z 09-24-2012 01:03 PM

Hi Jay,

Please put me on the list for a set. BLACK logo with BLACK CF plate.

I'll send the payment tomorrow!

Thanks!

dmhenderson 09-25-2012 01:19 PM

Anyone heard from the OP? Getting a little nervous since I sent him cash almost a week ago and haven't gotten a PM response or any sort of order acknowledgement.

I sent him 2 PMs and an email with no response. It shows that he has been on the forum, but hasn't got back with me yet. I haven't dealt with Jay before. I think he may need to brush up on his customer service skills to remain in business.

cooltoy 09-25-2012 01:35 PM

Well the first 10 orders were filled. Maybe he is working on those first?

dmhenderson 09-25-2012 01:35 PM

Oh yeah I'm just nervous - not upset or anything.

pfdaxe 09-26-2012 09:09 AM

I sent Jay an email through his website this morning. Let's see if I receive a response. :)

pty370z 09-26-2012 09:32 AM

I've purchased stuff from Jay before. He's been known to get kinda "lost" and hard to find sometimes, but eventually comes through.

I've never read of him letting anyone down or running away with money.

:iagree:

I figure he just gets caught up with all the different forums he's on. This maybe a part time gig for him. I know he has been in business for a while, but it would be nice to have a bit better communication. I'm thinking about ordering the flat black rear diffuser from him in the near future.

Cmike2780 09-26-2012 10:34 AM

I don't think Jay has the staff to keep up with everyone's request. He usually pulls through though.

Anyone have pics yet?

Think that would require a shipment to occur first :tiphat:

I believe that is just his Paypal account email. I emailed directly through his website as it has contact info (email addy & phone):

EVO-R* Performance Motorsports 350Z G37 EVO X RX-8 Hummer H2 RX-7

The reply I received was from a different email address than was posted on his site:

jayevor@gmail.com

I sent a reply to that address asking about a delivery date, but haven't heard back yet.

Word of advice when doing these in cold weather. Clean the surface with rubbing alcohol as best you can. Try to avoid using goo gone if you can because unless you get it ALL off, it will ruin the 3M backing.

Once the area is clean, carefully affix the new emblem and strap down both "sides" of the emblem securely with blue heat-resistant painter's tape. You do this because the back of the emblem is flat, whereas the area on your hood where you're attaching the badge is slightly convex. If you don't strap down both sides of the emblem, you may end up with one side sitting "higher" in the recession than the other.

Then cover the whole badge with tape and hit it in short bursts with the heat gun on LOW.

Leave the tape on the car for 2-3 days, then remove.

Voila, permanent emblems.

dmhenderson 09-27-2012 10:49 AM

Thanks - emailed him at the gmail address.

I wonder how these would work on an aftermarket body kit since they do not have the emblem indentation of the stock front and rear. Would the emblems "sit up" a bit, showing the tape or will they sit flat?

dmhenderson 09-27-2012 11:42 AM

Can't speak for these emblems specifically but yes, it would "sit up a bit" if they're like the ones I got from the Z store.

EVOR 09-28-2012 05:55 AM

Guys. Sorry for no update. I'm currently in Los Angeles getting ready for Sevenstock 15. I did not bring my laptop so it's hard to work with an iPhone. Update on the emblems. We are waiting to have the rear 3m adhesive custom cut. Otherwise the chrome and black emblems are ready to go. I should be starting to ship them out when I get back to office next week. Thanks.
