Low tyre pressure warning
 

Guys,
don't know if anyone else has experienced this but had my first puncture on Sunday and no warning from the tyre pressure sensor. I'm talking rear tyre actually ripped along the side reinforcements, not just a simple nail in the threads' puncture.

Other thing is, quote for one rear tyre in SA is $430, anyone else got better quotes previously?

Aussie cars don't get pressure sensors only US ones do. But 430 seems a little steep but then again i never had Yokohama before

ouch - that is pricey - I knew they'd be $$$$ but didn't think they'd be that much. Hope you get it sorted for reasonable dollars. I've used Bob Jane on Gouger Street numerous times in the past and they've always been good on pricing - speak with Glen if he's still there.

i've got 19" Dunlop Sport Maxx and I changed the Yokohama Advans cos they were no good, especially front end grip. The car felt eerie due to the thin tyres... 225/50/18..... i am running 245/40/19 and they are awesome... but the Dunlops were nearly $600 each....

That doesn't sound like a simple puncture. Have it checked by the manufacturer it could be a warrantee claim.

Dude at the tyre store thought it may have been a nail that caused the initial puncture, but since the pressures in the tyre was still adequate, I did not feel anything for awhile. In retrospect, I do remember hearing a strange ticking noise now and again for the last 3 weeks. Like I said, no obvious deflation as I remember checking tyre pressures about a week ago.

SO the further damage was probably done after I took the car out for a drive on Saturday up to the hills, then on Sunday a.m. the tyre started deflating. Don't think warranty will cover that.

Had Yoko's in the past on my RX-8, switched from Bridgestones. Was very happy with them, but the current front tyres may be too thin therefore lacking front end grip.

Ended up paying $420 for the replacement tyre; guess it'll be awhile before I change them again +/- new wheels.
