FI 12" Exhaust - Stillen G3 Intakes - Stillen UD Pulley - GAINED 28kw or 37HP

I received all of these parts early this week…! I couldn’t wait to install them…, called couple of shops but most of them very busy only can do it next week or two. One of my friends recommended this shop in Heidelberg West, they’ve got dyno and can install these 3 parts on Friday for me. I couldn’t be happier and made an appointment.

Stuffed FI exhaust, stillen intakes n pulley and KW V3 coilover in to the car…, to my surprise.., believed me...they can fit.

I dropped off my car there early Friday morning and I went straight to work and I came back in the afternoon just before they do the dyno after the install. They dyno-ed the car in the morning (stock conditions and my car only done y 1400km or about 870miles) and then another runs in the afternoons right after the installations.

They did 2 dyno runs in the morning, the highest was 179kW or about 240HP @ rear wheels. After these 3 mods installed they did 2 dyno runs again in the afternoon, he highest was 207kW or about 277HP. I only managed to video the 2nd dyno run (forgot to record the 1st one) with my crappy pocket camera.

Btw, here pics of the car couple of days after I picked up the car:

Video of the dyno run2 after mods installed, I forgot to record the 1st run:

Pls ignore the Torque figure.., they guy said they have not calibrate it yet.

SO the results : 28kW or 37HP gained @ rear wheels!!! :eek::drool::woot::happydance::D

As my butt-dyno go …, I can definitely feel the power gain…, the car tires even can chirp at 3rd gear shift now, it rev tad faster because of the pulley and the exhaust sound is VERY mean at high RPM …. you have to hear in real time to believe how really good this exhaust sound. I couldn’t stop downshift to be able to hear the syn-rev all the time :driving::driving::driving:

Anyone in Melbourne wanted to hear and ride in my car… definitely welcomed!!! :tiphat:

Coming next week: Fast Intentions HFC, KW V3 coilover installation and reverse camera

Nice setup  - if you get the time could you post in-car vids as well? I'm thinking of going the same route but with 18" resonators

GTRFAN 09-06-2009 06:35 AM

Nice one...I might take you up on that offer to check it out sometime this week if you're free?

bezzita 09-06-2009 07:04 AM

If you wanna meet during the week..., just come down to my shop.. I am always free between between 2.30pm-5pm or we can meet up on Sat somewhere.

I believed they are... it's called Technik Tuning and Ray is the owner and he usually always there and he's a nice guy. Actually it's my first time to get my car done there..., one of the reason I go there because he got a dyno and can do my car within 2 days.

If you wanted to install the exhaust only, I recommend Carnegie Muffler on Princes Hwy around the corner Kooyong St, he only does exhaust..... I am used to be very very happy with this place..., I changed the exhaust my last 3 cars here. But he always very busy and the earliest time to get your car done usually you have to wait a week to make an appointment. Btw, which exhaust you are getting???

bezzita 09-06-2009 08:27 AM

I can do it but I only have a crappy pocket camera...., it does not represent its true sound though.

Nice work Bez. You make it so hard to fight the modding-bug! :(
I've decided though to put the mod $$ towards an R35 for now..

I can see it now. I'll have my new GTR and I'll be on a GTR forum and some guy would have modded his, I feel that urge and it starts all over again... *sigh*

^^ yezziR!

bezzita 09-06-2009 05:07 PM

Are you sure the mod $$ gonna be enough for the R35? hehe Probably only enough for the maintenances :P

I was thinking the same too..., to save another year or two and get R35..., but I found out the first service even cost you 2k and I dunno how much the major service gonna be...! I heard you have to spend couple of grand every year for the maintenance.

So...better off to mod ur 370z and enjoy it for now! be careful..., once the mod bugs bite your....., you'll never stop :shakes head: :p

evse82 09-06-2009 05:38 PM

Well by the time I have enought money to get an R35, they would have all desolved with rust, so I'm guessing i'll have fun with the 370 while I can lol.

I ended up getting the berk HFC's and the stillen exhaust. I came very very very close to getting the intakes as well, but I'll hold off on them for a little bit just till I run in the engine and know it's all good.

I still wanna reach 2000km before i put on the exhaust so I'm up for cruises anytime whenever anyone wants to :P

I had taken my 350 to dalder exhausts in preston and I think it was Zoran there who was really good - he was carefull with the install, I might call to see if he is still there, but they haven't got a dyno. I would be interested in seeing what gains I get.

How much did they charge for the dyno? And also for the exhaust install? (if you don't mind me asking)

bezzita 09-06-2009 11:02 PM

The charged me $600 to get these 3 mods intalled and this price includes 2 dyno runs..., 2 pulls earch run. I do not know the price breakdown.., I am guessing $90-$100 for each dyno run and $400 for the installations.

So when's your exhaust arrive???

Probably we can go together to Technik Tuning.., I am planning to install the FI HFC and the coilover the end of this week (if it manages to get here mid week)... or else gonna be next week.

evse82 09-06-2009 11:57 PM

ah ok fair enough, well i think mine will arrive next week some time.. well 400 minus intake installation im guessing might be about 300 for the cats and exhaust hopefully lol...

I'm going to be doing a fair bit of driving this week to get the k's up though lol I wanna install them asap haha

MrBMW 09-07-2009 05:04 PM

Hey bez', great stuff mate:tup:. A nice 37atwhp gain is great, the stock run seems a little low but the main thing is that getting it done on the same Dyno same day to give you a good comparison. I havn't noticed/know much about that brand of Dyno and they could actually read a bit lower than others.

But damn you for getting the F.I. exhaust first LOL, hopefully ours will be here early next week and can also join the F.I. club. Tonys taking over the world.

Hope you are enjoying the new additions.. BTW thanks for the little review also.

It's the gear that was used for the pull. On a dyno you should always use the gear with a 1:1 ratio. The US guys seem to use 4th which was correct in the days of 5sp gearboxes but the 370z 6sp has 5th as the 1:1 ratio. This is why the power differs. The only problem with running 5th is that the dyno may not be able to handle the wheel speed associated with running to the end of the gear as it's up around 200km/h

Just my 2c worth

B1nks 09-07-2009 09:56 PM

how you feel about those coilovers ?

bezzita 09-08-2009 12:27 AM

Thanks! To be honest that what I thought too.. base run a bit low..., but they did 2 runs almost identical in the morning only about 5kw different between them...., so I dont think it's wrong... becoz in the afternoon runs were not that difference... same dyno..., same settings.., almost identical weather conditions etc.

Yeah Tony is a great guy..., he's bit upset when I cancelled my order but still he helped me out to save some $$ by sending my HFC via USPS. I bet you guys gonna be very happy with this exhaust!!!

I have not installed it yet..., probably next week!

UPDATE: I received the HFC yesterday and installed it straight away...., ohhh the exhaust sound now sooo deeepp and throaty....:drool::drool:

Done the dyno run again..., but somehow it did not show any gain... it does exactly the same 207kW @ rear wheels. But as my butt-dyno go, I do feel a slight different... probably because of the louder exhaust noise. :p

What gear did you run it in?

How about the torque, any increase? That's what you "feel" when accelerating out of low revs.

bezzita 09-08-2009 01:17 AM

All my dyno run uses 4th gear.

hmm, I dont really look into details.., I will post the dyno comparison tonight or tomorrow

bezzita 09-08-2009 05:03 AM

Yes, I noticed it too..., the best is to do your dyno run on 5th gear because 1:1 ratio. I dont know why the shop decided to do it in 4th gear!?!? Probably for safety reason??? hmm

But I dont really care how much power my car make.... 100kW or 400kW, I only interested how much gain my car made stock vs. with mods...., I think it gained around 16% power increase... not too shabby for NA engine.... actually it's very impressive gain.

400kw would be nice. ;)

Great work on the mods, really good gains. I am keen to check it out and start a shopping list myself.

Great results from the dyno. Are you going to get a ECU flash done?
