Hello All and Welcome..

:hello:

Hi there fellow Aussies,

This will be my first post on this forum after lurking around for a few weeks. I hadn't posted yet as I didn't have the new car and didn't want to jinx myself. A quick backstory is, I was looking into a new car in Oct 08. At the time I drove a new BMW 135 (hence forum name:shakes head:) and a 2004 M3. Also at the time we bought the wife a new BMW 120i (from a Mazda SP23). Unfortunately I had to have some extensive surgery, so my car was put on the back burner.

Then in March was looking again at a new car. By now I had heard and seen dome Youtube videos of the new 370Z, but being impatient I didn't want to wait (I thought it was going to be end of year before it came out). Still looked into the BMW 135 and drove a Z4M. Again the surgery reared it's ugly head and had to go back under the knife.

Now the good stuff. A few weeks ago the Minister of Finance gave to go ahead to look again. By now I had found this wonderful Forum (thanks AK, great job) and thanks to Ellz in the May 1st thread I headed off to Keema Nissan first. I must say great service and offered what I do consider a great deal, including the trade in on my MY04 STI. Now as a consumer I also checked in with Highway Nissan (big shout out and thanks to Rob Whyte and showed me what the car can actually do during the test drive:driving:). They also offered a great deal. Took that to Keema and they just couldn't quite match it. Plus the extras that Highway Nissan were able to add, that really sold me (you'll see them soon:icon17:).

I originally though I wanted one in BLACK or that Bronze type colour. Then when at Highway Nissan I saw the Yellow one. Also seeing KillerBee's one on this forum I fell for the yellow. I picked it up yesterday and had a nice drive up Mt.Gravatt this morning for some pictures (Ellz should know that road).

Here are a couple of pics form yesterday. Will post my pics from this morning soon.

Hi Hunter,

Thanks for the welcome mate. This already seems like a great community to be a part of. Pretty much everyone seems more than happy to help out, which you dont get everywhere.

Also i'm sure i'll take you up on the offer of help at some stage:tiphat:.

Lots of a Happy Pics..

Hey Guys and Girls,

Here are some pics I took this morning (Point and shoot camera). Hopefully you like them. Definitely not as good as in real life or especially as driving it.

Now the additions i got added from the Dealer are direct iPod/iPhone connection. So instead of us Aussies using the AV jacks (still usable :)) i have a normal iPod/iPhone connector. Also have had a "Reverse Camera:woot:" added. Once in reverse it overides any input using the AUX input. This is reason for the few extras k's than normal on the clock for delivery.

The only other I thing ordered were Z Matts (back order). All this was installed pre-delivery.

Console view of reverse Camera,

Position of Rev' Cam,

Close UP of Rev Cam,

Shot at home (damn cold today, by QLD standards),

Driver front,

Driver Rear 3/4,

Driver Side,

Driver Front (again):p,

Passenger Rear,

Rear Shot Favourite,

Now all i need to do (besides Hardware Mods) is Tint and will colour the wheels "Matt Black" ala KillerBee (hopefully iam allowed to link to his pics). Also thinking of doing the door handles.

PS Anyone have ideas on how to mount a Video Cam (JVC GC-HD30) which basically palm size, without messing the dash too much.

PPS Anyone in QLD who is interested in the Cam/iPod setup let me know and i'll forward the details to you.

370er 06-30-2009 12:07 AM

Great pics. Thanks for the detail.

So the camera / ipod setup is aftermarket? Can you take a photo of the ipod connection? So does that mean your song titles come up on-screen now? That's exactly what i'd like to get but didn't know it was possible.

Grats on the purchase, glad to hear you got a good deal.
Will have to meet up and get some decent pics of the local Z's together.

Congrats!

I didn't see them on the official options page dammit. How did you find out about them? Could you share the part numbers please?

Hi there GTRFAN. They are not options unfortunately and from what I can gather the Camera isn't an option ANYWHERE. Whereas the iPod/iPhone connection is part of the Nav/Stereo option in the US. These "OPTIONS" were fitted by the dealer who has a connection from a Car Audio place. So I suppose you can call them aftermarket additions or Dealer Options (just not Nissan options).

Hey Ellz, love the car and the shots mate. Would be great to catch up one day/night (I do shift work argh!) for a cruise or drink. Hope you're enjoying the car as much as me. Take an early morning drive up Mt.Gravatt, great fun:driving:.

PS The cable can be retracted a bit or pulled out further if needed.

That is something that only the most hardcore Z enthusiasts and dedicated 370Z members would do .

You might inspire a new form of posting while driving.

Firstly I must add in the interest of public saftey, i do not condone Text/Talking on the phone (non handsfree) while driving.

You could almost have a live commentary section:eekdance: of the section of road your driving LOL. Whether it be a favourite mountain pass or even a Traffic Jam:shakes head:.

Not impossible to implement but a fun idea.

G'Day Scott,

I just took delivery of mine today. 370Z, Chicane Yellow, 6MT.
I went into the dealership just for some fun, to have a look, and those curves.....Anyhow, that was on Tuesday.

Can you give the details on the iphone connector and reversing camera? The iphone on bluetooth really needs to be plugged in, you can almost watch the battery guage drop.

Thanks,

George

Model: 370Z
Color: Chicane Yellow
Transmission: 6MT
Dealer: Robinson Nissan, Rockdale (Sydney)

Mate, thanks for the pics. Just been onto my dealer and told them to scrap the rear park assist and put on a camera and the IPOD adapter when the ol girl arrives. This completes my package except for the 19's lol and yes one day they will be mine hehehehe. Good to see you are in Brissy too. We will definitely have to organise a cruise as soon as mine arrives - hit Cootha Glorioius etc. Take a spin through Cunungra across some of my old army stomping ground! Boys only trip! Its funny how you were looking at the 135i, Z4 etc. I was also looking at the EVO and 335i, as well as the cars you were looking at - youtube copped a floggin! I too was ready to buy earlier this year but wanted to see what this car was like. As soon as I drove it - bang - had to have it. Look forward to catchin up! By the way - how is the manual, I have only driven the Auto? When I drove the 370z old memories from my youth started to flood back with relation to my old S15 200sx an '04 350z.

Clint
