Oil Cooler HELP!

Hi All,

I'm currently installing a Z1 motorsport oil cooiler for my 370z.

I notice the Australian version has a factory sandwich plate in which 2 coolent lines are connected too.

However I notice the U.S verions dont have this setup and the oil filter isnt connected to a factory sandwich plate.

Should I just connect the 2 coolent lines together?

I think the 350 had this same setup.

Cheers

Morgan.

Morgan - just add the sandwih plate on the outer side of the OEM sandwich plate - it all fits OK. Leave the OEM lines as they are - install your new sandwich plate and the cooler lines as per instructions.

I am in Melbourne (outer north east - Warrandyte) and can show you my set up if you want. PM me for contact details.

Evl370,
You can stack the sandwich plates without any problems whatsoever. You are correct, the VQ35DE/VQ35HR engines in the older generation 350Z have a similar sandwich plate adapter present from the factory.

This is a factory attempt of using engine coolant to help pull heat from the engine oil, similar to a Laminova style oil cooler that is becoming more popular on track cars(but at a fraction of the cost).

By stacking the sandwich plates, you should not have any problems with line routing, clocking of the sandwich plate or changing the oil. It will extend the filter out an additional 1.25" or so, but nothing major.

I am actually putting the finishing touches on our 350Z/G35 oil cooler kit which retains this cooler.

Only the Middle Eastern and Austrailian market 370Z's came equipped with this setup. I would be very interested in seeing some pictures of our kit installed on your car.

Good luck with the install!
