Finally got the Sport Wheels on my 370

Hi all, well story goes I bought the wheels back in August from private seller on this forum in the US, they didnt get shipped till December! (don't get me started on that)

The wheels and shipping back then came to $2792 then there was the shock of the broker custom fees (port chargers, levies, Inspection fees etc) which came to $666. I was lucky for them to accept the value as under $1000AUS otherwise I would have been hit with GST and duty taxes.

So all up total came to $3,458AUS and then with the sale of my 18's (got a guy picking them up today fingers crossed I get $2,500) i end up out of pocket $958

Oh and thats not the end of it! 2 out of the 4 wheels have a scuff on them from rubbing together, So I now got to try and put a claim through and get them repaired

Now for the lessons!! Will I ever do this excercise again NO WAY. Absolute nightmare, and as you can see very $$$ initially.
If anyone is thinking doing the same you may want to do your research and get a OFFICIAL quote from your broker so you dont get hit with hidden fees like I was!

Enough bitching.. Now for pics check my album

Nice look.

I always fancied the sports wheels, but research uncovered similar charges as yours, so I decided to wait to see if they become available over here.

What type and size of tyres do they have?

AH370Z 01-15-2010 11:28 PM

They came with the original bridgestones, so 245 snd 275

It really is kind of silly that you have to go through so much to get wheels that are originally equipped on the car everywhere else. But looks good either way.

All because Nissan didn't put them on the car standard in the first place! Ah well, although you got screwed around with importing them they look damn nice. Take pride in knowing you are one of only a few with 19s RAYS in Australia. I think if they bring them out as an option here i'd be tempted to get them. But they'd still cost a lot more. With our strong AUD nothing seems to get cheaper.

Congratulations on your purchase. Talk about being mucked around and then given a nasty surprise?

Are the tyres in good condition?

If all the rumours are correct, the 19" RAYS rims will be coming here soon for 2010 models (unfortunately).

How did you go selling your 18" rims. I got my 19" Enkei's the week I got my car and my stock rims are sitting in my garage with 100kms. I am thinking of selling them eventually. I assume they will fit Skylines/200SX/Silvia's?

AH370Z 01-16-2010 04:45 PM

The tyres were in good condition, a guy from skylines aus forum bought them.

Mr Ed 01-16-2010 04:50 PM

thats a good price.

A Nissan salesman tried to buy my 18' rims off me real cheap so he could practice drifting in them. i declined.

i was thinking of using the 18' rims for track days.

AH370Z I likes them wheels ... I would have gone for those if they were an option..

Mind you my 18inch standard tyres and rims are growing on me ...

This car would look great in any rims !!!

Aussie370z 01-17-2010 04:34 AM

dumb question ? how do you get a photo in the left hand side of screen under Base Member??

GTRFAN 01-18-2010 12:21 AM

Sounds like a pain in the *** to import them but $958 all up is a pretty good result. Good stuff.

They will be out here around April, but they'll cost more than what you paid so you've done well.

Spotted your car in Concord then.

Hey AH370 - i'm about to go through the process and wonder if you could help with a few q's

-how did you find out who your broker was
-who did you ship through, was it Fedex or someone else?
- are there any mods to fit the rims eg spacers etc or do they just bolt straight on

Thanks in advance

PS The wheels look sweet, can't wait to join the few z cars rolling around Sydney with these on:happydance:

Mr370z 03-29-2010 07:14 AM

I just rang around some local brokers in my areas. My advise is to make sure your quote covers everything so you dont get cought out like i did.
The seller organised the shipping by boat, It was about $700-750US and took about 1 month. You also need to think about any duties so may want to get seller to put down cost of wheels under $1000AUS

And yes they bolt straight on and look great. just need to get my scratches repaired!! Still trying to go through claims - Nightmare
