Warning Chimes

After I have turned off the engine and opened the drivers door to exit the vehicle, I sometimes get warning chimes - 4 beeps, repeatedly until I shut the door. I can't work out what it is alerting me to. It doesn't seem to be consistent, sometimes it does it, other times not. :shakes head:

I thought it may be because the keys were in my pocket, rather than in the key slot. But I've tried putting the key in the key slot and it still does it.

I thought it might be because the headlights were on (even though they were on auto and turn themselves off). But I have turned the headlights off manually and it still does it.

I don't notice anything lit up on the dash that would indicate why it is chiming.

The dealer said it's to remind me not to leave the keys in the car which sounds pretty stupid. Does anyone else have this problem ? Do you just ignore the beeps or has anyone worked out what i am doing wrong or how to stop it ?

Thanks Kelvin

I found that if you open the door before you shut off the engine it will start chiming. Also if you have accessories on and you open the drivers side door it will chime.

Yup, agree with Rudi

Thanks guys, that was it. I must have been opening the door before the engine was shut off. It's so obvious now I know why.

my auto lock/unlock (default setting) pretty much prevents that from happening. can be a lil annoying at times, like dropping someone off.
