Nice 2fast!
|
I'd be interested at a reasonable price and if it still left the trunk area open. Maybe like the Bose sub does.
|
I'd give it a shot.

Stealth Sub? Yes. Make it, I will buy.

According to the poll there is definitely interest for this project. Any word on making it a reality?

zenclosures are cool but they take up way too much trunk space. there has to be a better solution than that. I like to drive but sometimes I take things with me...
It looks like JL Audio is working on the 370z "Stealthbox" as we speak: JL Audio Stealthbox System This guy seems to have the right idea. http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/3...pare-tire.html I am actually going to try this method myself once I figure out a way to do it with a 10". The sub I currently have is a RF Punch. However, I think the cone will be too deep, so I might have to spend the cash on a shallow 10", but the idea is perfect. I really like what member "Jowe" did. He put two 6.5" shallow subs in the spare. If I can't get that to work this guy has the instructions to do a sub anywhere in the car: Subwoofer Box Fiberglassing 2 - Nissan 350Z & 370Z Wiki Looks pretty easy. But then again i'll do anything twice... I was thinking about what "carfr3ak " said. I agree, and would like to add that maybe we can express where we would like to place a sub as well. There are pleanty of guys out there with the know how and might be able to fabricate something just for the space we suggest?... |

The 8" inside the spare tire will work, and another guy from a shop in Atlanta did the internal volume, and I believe it was in the .6 range. A 10" will work, there are a few examples that are shallow enough to fit. I am leaning towards the Elemental Designs SQ 10: Elemental Designs To me, this location seems like such a no brainer. Retains the spare AND use of the trunk for those of us that need that, AND for the "add an aftermarket sub" crowd, it retains the stock look. Hopefully we see this manufactured soon. John |

"It looks like JL Audio is working on the 370z "Stealthbox" as we speak: JL Audio Stealthbox System"
I hope this 370 box they are working on is a little more "stealth" than the 350 box, lol. It was a nice box, but big and covered the entire area unter the shock tower bar. If they don't make one to drop in the spare tire, I will have one custom made locally. |
I know this is off the subject but if I am successful at installing the sub in the spare tire well, how do you all feel it will sound if covered up by the carpet and mat?
I was thinking about putting some type of spacer between them, or even facing it downward. I figured it couldnt sound any worse if it was in a normal trunk, of even in a solid plexiglass box, as I've seen examples of on this site... |
Looked at some pre-production photos of JL's Stealthbox for 370-Z on Facebook - looks like the same design as the ZEnclosure - just in front of the stiffener. Not very stealthy.
I would like to see a spare-area version - don't need a "boom-car"; just a decent upgrade. A shallow driver that keeps the spare, like the factory Bose, would be great for my needs. --ZOperaMan |

I might be interested in a stealth option, however I still think Zenclosures are a better option. Besides the Z is not intended to have a lot of trunk space .. its not like we go grocery shopping in the Z. Even with Zenclosure I still have room to put a few bags in the back if I am going on a trip. A stealth option would be nice to avoid obvious visual cues that you have a system that a thief might want to jack. |
