Replacing door speakers -- how hard is it?

I looked in the stickies and didn't see any how-tos.
How hard is it to replace the door speakers?
Does the grill just pop off, or does the entire door panel have to come off?
I'm thinking just replacing with 6.5'' speakers.

Thanks

I don't have any experience with this but I would imagine the entire door panel needs to be removed. Also, new speaker wire should be run regardless of what system your car came with, and NEEDS to be run if your car has the bose.

I think I remember seeing at least one DIY on this site for door speaker replacement. Try using Google and add "site:the370z.com" to your search string.

The entire door panel has to come off. There are some panel clips you have to pop and a couple bolts that have to be removed. Unless you have Bose it's fairly straightforward if your goal is just to replace the midbass drivers and keep the rest of the stock system in place.

The video you want is here:

Video #2 Audio Install in a 2009 370Z on Vimeo

Door panel removal starts at about 1:50.

Replacing speaker is super easy. Running new wire is a nightmare if you're not a gymnast.

Agreed. I've had to run speaker wires to the doors twice now and I have no desire to make it a three-peat.
